After girlfriend Miley Cyrus practically BEGGED him to release it — Cody Simpson finally delivered.
Cue his new song Golden Thing, which dropped on Friday. The tune first sparked our interest when the Wrecking Ball singer posted a snippet on her Instagram Story as she was stuck in the hospital fighting tonsillitis last week.

Recently, Cody’s manager spoke about his client’s budding romance with the former Disney Channel star — and it appears they’ve found each other again at the perfect time.

Matt Zeidman got real about it in a statement to People on Tuesday, acknowledging while both his client and the blonde performer certainly had more than their share of fun in years past when they were younger, times have changed now.
Zeidman said (below):
“It is early, but their friendship is long-standing and deeper than people realize. Though they originally met during their own wilder phases, they’re both sober now and are focused on health, work and spending time together. Seems pretty ideal to me.”
Cody echoed that same sentiment a few days earlier, all while confirming their romance:
“[It’s been a] different experience for me. The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long … we found each other again in a space where we’re both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good. Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”
This all seems to be moving very quickly, as did Miley’s post-Liam Hemsworth fling with Kaitlynn Carter — but who are we to judge puppy love.
