David Archuleta would like to clear a few things up.
A video floated around over the weekend of TikTok influencer Emma wahl (@emmawahlburger) interviewing someone who told a story about a “singer guy” who came in second place on a singing reality TV competition years ago, lost out to someone sharing the same name, and who recently appeared on another singing competition, coming in second place again.
The first date was made to sound like a nightmare, with the artist in question bringing his guitar along on the date, and showing footage of his appearance on the show. The artist apparently ordered a super sugary drink, and then after the date, requested feet pics.

Fans in the comments immediately speculated that the story was about the 32-year-old “Crush” singer, who lost to David Cook on American Idol, and who came in second place on The Masked Singer last year.
@davidarchie K i died when someone showed this to me so let me add some commentary
“Where do I begin?” he said in a response video.
“Let me start with the guitar. I do not consider myself a guitar player. In public is the last place you will ever see me playing guitar. My guitar skills are like Ariana Grande deciding to do a WWE match,” he went on to say.
He also went on to talk about how self-conscious he is about his TV appearances, and said he avoids making it known on a first date.
“I usually avoid telling people that I’m a singer, that I perform,” he said. “I’m too shy about that.”
David then clarified that he prefers a bitter coffee drinker, and because he grew up Mormon and extremely religious, he’d never been on a coffee date.
“What’s wrong with being second?” he went on to say, adding that he isn’t bitter about his experience on Idol. “I was thrilled that I made it to the Top 2 of 100,000 people.”
As for the feet pics? He prefers to save that for later: “I’ve got to know what’s on the inside first. Of course I want to see your face first, but then meeting you in person, I want to know what’s on the inside.”
“I hope people don’t think I’m that kind of person. I hope y’all knew it was satire, because I didn’t know that guy. I never been on a date with him…not saying he’s a bad looking guy, but I have a different type. You’ll tend to see me with more Hispanic, Latino type looking folk.”
Although fans have pointed out in the video comments that the original video was a satire of an interview, others have come to David Archuleta‘s defense.
David Archuleta spoke out after his manager received an email complaint about a Christmas concert where he discussed being queer.
