What’s going on at Disneyland??
Multiple people were hospitalized on Tuesday at the California-based theme park after they all started falling ill. It was so bad a hazmat team was called in! OMG!
According to the Anaheim Fire Department via TMZ, the incident occurred near the backstage area of Tomorrowland’s Star Tours attraction. Sgt. Mark Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department told KTLA that cops responded to the scene after reports of an “unknown odor near Star Tours backstage” at around 12:30 p.m. According to him, multiple employees were taken to the hospital after feeling dizzy and experiencing a shortness of breath. SCARY!

Per social media, the attraction as well as the connected shop Star Traders were closed off, and cast members were blocking all the entrances, clearly hoping to avoid any guests getting sick!
So, WTF was going on?? It’s not everyday a hazmat team shows up!
Well, despite rumors going wild, it turns out this wasn’t some kind of mysterious virus or bio warfare — thank goodness!! According to Disneyland officials who spoke to both outlets, a contractor was doing some work in the backstage area, and the building materials they were using caused a reaction. THAT’S what was making everyone feel so sick. It’s unclear exactly what material was being used.
They said several cast members were treated by paramedics on-site and then released. However, at least five cast members faced dizziness and shortness of breath and were taken to the local hospitals. While the nearby park attractions were closed down out of an abundance of caution, they’re expected to open back up soon.
Such an unnerving situation! We hope those taken to the hospital recover quickly!
