The Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department told Insider that a child climbed out of a window at a home owned by Jodi to get help, which led to the allegations of abuse.
Local outlet Fox 13 reports that the child ran to a neighbor’s house to get help and asked for food and water. The neighbor noticed that the kid had duct tape on their ankles and wrists, at which point they called the police.
The child was subsequently taken to a hospital where they were treated for “severe” wounds and malnourishment. According to officials, a second child was found in the same residence “in similar physical condition of malnourishment” and was also taken to the hospital.
Ruby reportedly filmed a YouTube video from the house just days before her arrest, which led law enforcement to believe that she was allegedly “present in the home and having knowledge of the abuse, malnourishment and neglect.”
Ruby is best known for running the channel 8 Passengers, which followed the lives of her husband Kevin Franke and their six children: Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve. The channel was taken down earlier this year for unknown reasons.
She and Jodie then launched the channel ConneXions, which was described as a mom’s “support group” to “help those lost and stranded in the darkness of distortion — which addictions, fear, sadness, and all other self-destructive behaviors derive from.”
