Hey all you cool cats and kittens… the investigation into the disappearance of Carole Baskin’s husband continues!
A Florida sheriff is taking advantage of Netflix’s hugely popular Tiger King series to ask for new leads in the cold case regarding the 1997 disappearance of millionaire Jack ‘Don’ Lewis.

The show focused primarily on Oklahoma zookeeper Joe Exotic, but his rivalry with Carole was a crucial part of the story — and led to his current imprisonment. One of Joe’s frequent accusations towards the founder of Big Cat Rescue was that she was responsible for Lewis’ disappearance. He claimed Carole killed her husband Don and fed him to her tigers — OR dumped him in her property’s septic tank.
Baskin has always denied these accusations, but now Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister wants to get to the bottom of the case, once and for all. The sheriff posted on Twitter:
“Since @netflix and #Covid19 #Quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads. #CaroleBaskin #DonLewis #Netflix #Tiger #BigCatRescue #JoeExotic #TigerKingNetflix #HCSO”
The tweet was accompanied by a poster with pictures and info about Lewis and the message:
“Only YOU can help solve the Jack “Don” Lewis Cold Case”

Of course, fans of the docuseries know Joe Exotic would say or do anything to destroy Carole Baskin — after all, he is accused of literally trying to arrange to have her murdered. But Joe isn’t the only one who thinks Carole had something to do with it. According to the doc, Don’s first wife and daughters, as well as others close to the family, have long suspected Baskin’s involvement.

Another of the documentary’s subjects, Jeff Lowe, claimed “there’s no doubt” that Baskin had a hand in her husband’s disappearance. Lowe, who is currently being sued by the Tiger King himself, discussed the case during a remote appearance on David Spade‘s show Lights Out With David Spade. He told Spade:
“There’s no doubt. There’s no question. We know so much more than that documentary showed. … You know, Netflix whitewashed a lot of it. … I think because of legal exposure from something they can’t prove. But we have a lot more evidence against her that just wasn’t shown.”
Now that everyone on quarantine is binging the series, a LOT more people have weighed in on the case. Pop culture queen Chrissy Tiegen tweeted:
“It is my opinion that I believe someone named don has maybe gone through a woman named carole’s meat grinder for sure”
Kim Kardashian West also tweeted about the series, saying:
“Wow the amount of texts I’ve gotten about Tiger King since I tweeted about it all have mentioned their belief that Carol killed her husband! What are your thoughts? Do you think Carol killed him?”
Meanwhile, Cardi B has come out firmly as Team Joe, tweeting “Carol you think you slick bitch” and sharing a meme that said “Carole Baskin fed her husband to the tigers.”

For her part, Carole, who will be portrayed by Kate McKinnon in an upcoming limited series, has posted a strong denial of any wrongdoing on the Big Cat Rescue website. She called the docuseries “salacious and sensational”. The animal rights activist attempted to discredit her accusers, including accusing Don’s ex-wife and daughters of having “strong selfish motivations to lie”. She concluded the post by saying:
“Don was not easy to live with and like most couples, we had our moments. But I never threatened him and I certainly had nothing to do with his disappearance.”
What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Was Carole Baskin involved in her husband’s disappearance? Or is this another one of Joe Exotic’s tall tales? Sound OFF with your take in the comments (below)…
