Geraldo Rivera Appears to Quit Fox News After Getting 'Fired' from 'The Five'

It looks like Geraldo Rivera‘s time on Fox News has come to an end.

Last week, the 79-year-old journalist announced his departure from the political talk show The Five.

Then on Thursday (June 28), Geraldo claimed that he was actually “fired” from the show, and announced that he was quitting Fox News after nearly 23 years.

“Bumpy day on the North Atlantic,” Geraldo tweeted while on a boat ride off the coast of Jones Beach, New York. “Anyway, I got fired from @TheFive so I quit Fox. After 23 years tomorrow Fox and Friends could be my last appearance on the network. Thanks for the memories.”

In an accompanying video, Geraldo said, “So it doesn’t look like I’m gonna be on The Five…I mean, I’m not gonna be on The Five. I’ve been fired from The Five, and as a result of that I quit Fox. I’ll have more to say about that on Fox & Friends tomorrow morning.”

When he first announced his exit from The Five last week, Geraldo cited “a growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences,” telling the Associated Press at the time that it was his decision to leave, adding that the team at Fox News “didn’t race after” him to stay.

Geraldo first joined Fox News back in 2001.
