While it’s still unclear what led to the death of famed restaurateur Harry Morton, more details are coming out about the last months of his life.
As we reported, Harry, the founder of Pink Taco and son of famed Hard Rock Cafe cofounder Peter Morton, died on Saturday after he was found unresponsive by his younger brother Matthew at his Beverly Hills home.
The autopsy is still pending, so, for now the circumstances of his death remain a mystery. But friends of the 38-year-old business owner have since told DailyMail.com those close to him were concerned about his drug use — particularly, his fondness of ayahuasca.

An unnamed friend of Morton’s told the outlet:
“We’ve all been concerned over Harry’s use of ayahuasca for some time, he was hooked on the stuff. He always thought it was safe and natural but he was definitely over using it.”
For those who don’t know, ayahuasca is a psychedelic tea made from tropical vines and leaves from the Amazon jungle — some of which include the chemical DMT (aka The Spirit Molecule), which is said to distort brain waves to create a vivid dream-like state.
It’s extremely rare for ayahuasca to be the direct cause of death, but Harry’s friends are fearing the worst. They also couldn’t help but note a fatal overdose would be particularly devastating, seeing as that’s how his late half-sister died.
The friend added:
“It’s still too early to know exactly how Harry died, but because he was so young, his friends and family fear it’s drug related – only time will tell… Harry’s sister died of a drug overdose so it would be an absolute tragedy if Harry went the same way.”
For those who don’t know, Harry’s half-sister was Domino Harvey. Yes, that Domino Harvey. The model turned bounty hunter who was played by Keira Knightley in the 2005 film Domino.
Harvey died at the age of 35 of an overdose of the painkiller drug fentanyl the same year the film came out. She was reportedly found unconscious in a bathtub by her assistant.
Fentanyl has claimed the lives of countless celebs, including Prince and Mac Miller. Although ayahuasca is far less fatal, it was blamed for the death of 53-year-old billionaire Matthew Mellon, who died of a heart attack in April 2018 after taking the drug in a Mexican rehab facility.
But ayahuasca is far from fentanyl.
The psychedelic brew is popular in Hollywood, with Sting, Chelsea Handler, and even Lindsay Lohan, Harry’s ex-girlfriend, having publicly spoken about their positive experiences with the psychedelic brew.
As we reported, Lindsay paid tribute to Harry with a touching Instagram post. Sharing a black and white photo of them together at the Venice Film Festival, she wrote:
“Best friends. Best life.”
Apparently other friends of Harry aren’t liking Lohan’s apparently opportunistic display. A source told the outlet:
“Lohan is jumping on the band wagon to pay tribute to Harry when she represented a dark time in his life. It’s upsetting for those close to him.”
Harry also dated Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton over the years.
As of now, no foul play is suspected in his death. We’ll let keep you updated as soon as we learn what happened.
