Fuller House was slightly less full this year.
Netflix released the fifth and final season of its Full House reboot on Tuesday, and while we finally said goodbye to all the beloved characters (…again), one character was noticeably absent: Aunt Becky.

Obviously, the show didn’t go the ripped-from-the-headlines route and have the fictional newscaster awaiting trial like her real-life counterpart Lori Loughlin. After all, the wholesome TGIF characters would never do something like that!
But they did pay lip service to the family matriarch, who appeared in all four previous seasons of the reboot.
In a discussion about how to handle his daughter getting bit in school, Jesse (John Stamos) and DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) shared the following exchange:
DJ: “You don’t think you should run this by Aunt Becky first?”
JESSE: “Becky is in Nebraska helping out her mother. I don’t want to bother her with a tiny little thing like this.”
DJ: “Right, because she’d tell you not to do what you’re about to do.”
Ah, the classic “helping out her mother” excuse! Works every time!
Hey, at least they didn’t kill her off Roseanne-style!
While Loughlin is waiting for a judge to accept her deal after finally pleading guilty in the college admissions scandal, her co-stars have expressed disappointment that she wasn’t there to share the final bow. Andrea Barber, aka Kimmy Gibbler, recently told People:
“It was really sad, and we could feel her absence. It just felt like there was a hole in the whole season but also in that final episode. She should’ve been there, and I’m sorry that she wasn’t… She’s one of the sweetest, kindest and most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met. I love her, I love her unconditionally. She’s just a sweetheart, and she’ll always be family to me.”

Dave Coulier expressed similar sentiments last month, saying it “didn’t feel right” to film the finale without her. He continued:
“However this kind of turns out, we’re there for her. The images that people see aren’t always what is true. And Lori is one of my closest and dearest friends on the planet, and it’s really unfortunate that this has happened, and I will be there for her forever.”
All in all, it sounds like the actress’s real family and her TV family are in her corner. There haven’t been too many silver linings for Loughlin in this case so far, but she must appreciate all that support.
Anyway, helping your mother in Nebraska has to beat doing jail time. Aunt Becky got the short end of the stick!
