How Vanessa Bryant Is Coping 3 Months After Losing Kobe & Gianna

As the world continues to adjust to life under quarantine, Vanessa Bryant is still trying to adjust to life without Kobe Bryant — which is, unsurprisingly, no easy feat.

A source close to the Bryant family told Us Weekly the 37-year-old is trying her best to hold it together in the wake of the deaths of her husband and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna — but unfortunately she can’t help but let the tragedy “completely consume” her at times.

The insider explained:

“No two days are the same for Vanessa. One day she feels motivated, and the next she’s depressed and needs to take time for herself… There are moments when it all completely consumes her.”

The source went on to say that the former model, who did everything in her power to make the Easter weekend memorable for her daughters, still hasn’t fully moved on from the denial stage of the grieving process, adding:

“It’s still unfathomable. It’s the heaviest loss a mother and wife could possibly experience. She’s grieving — and will be for a very long time.”

Thankfully, Vanessa has quite the support system to help her get through this devastating period. Not only has she been relying on her faith and her sister, but the mourning momma’s close friends La La Anthony, Kelly Rowland, and Gabrielle Union have all stepped up as well.

The source noted:

“They’ve been checking in and sending food and care packages.”

That’s good to hear!

Vanessa has shared a few thoughts with fans in the months since Kobe and Gianna perished with seven others in a helicopter crash on January 26. On April 13, she shared an emotional Instagram post to coincide with Mamba Day — a tribute to Kobe on the anniversary of his final game in the NBA now four years ago — about wishing she could “go back to that morning” of the ill-fated flight and change things.

She wrote:

“My husband worked his ass off for 20 years. Gave it his all. All he wanted was to spend time with our girls and me to make up for lost time. He wanted to be there for every single milestone and special moment in our girls lives. He only got to enjoy 3 years and 9 months of retirement. We had 2 more daughters, he won an Oscar, he opened Granity studios, he became a 5x best selling author and coached Gianna’s basketball team in that time. She worked hard and gave her all 7 days a week just like her daddy. I wish I could go back to that morning, every day. I wish they had a normal local game on 1/26. Life truly isn’t fair. This is just senseless.”

Our hearts continue to go out to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family.

Stay strong, momma.
