Jennifer Garner ‘Upset’ Over Ben Affleck’s Recent Drunken Display

Jennifer Garner isn’t mad at Ben Affleck, she’s just disappointed.

According to Us Weekly, the Camping star is bothered by her ex-husband’s recent slip in his sobriety over the weekend, but is still supporting him in his lifelong battle against substance abuse.

As we reported, the 47-year-old actor appeared to be drunk at a Halloween party on Saturday, October 26. In a video obtained by TMZ, he was seen stumbling out of West Hollywood’s Kimpton La Peer Hotel and nearly fell in the street before propping himself up on a nearby car.

The Triple Frontier star addressed the incident the next day in a conversation with paparazzi outside Garner’s house in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. He said of his break in sobriety:

“Well, you know, it happens. It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me.”

Neither is the mother of his children.

An insider told Us Garner is “upset” over Affleck’s shenanigans, “but always supportive.” And it appears she’s already putting him back on track, as a second source told the outlet Affleck’s sober coach “came over earlier” to Garner’s house that day.

Meanwhile, a People source revealed Ben “looked tired” during his chat with the papz at his ex’s home, but did the right thing by taking responsibility for what he’d done. The insider said:

“You could tell that it wasn’t an easy thing for him, but Ben owned his mistake. He said it happens, that he slipped up but that it won’t happen again. It was a smart move because now the story is basically over.”

The Oscar winner has been through rehab three times — in 2001, 2017, and 2018 — and frequents Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. A source close to the star told Us in late August, Ben is truly committed to being the best version of himself:

“He continues to want to be the best father and friend he can be. He remains committed to a number of treatment and wellness methods that focus on his health.”

The Argo director, who separated from Garner in 2015 after 10 years of marriage before finalizing their divorce in October 2018, personally addressed his recovery in October 2018.

The father-of-three wrote on Instagram at the time:

“Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment.”

He’s lucky to have such an amazing support system to get him through these “slip ups”!
