Joey King Explains What Being On Stage with Taylor Swift Feels Like!

Joey King recently experienced something that very few people will ever get the chance to experience in their lifetimes – be on stage at a Taylor Swift show!

The 24-year-old actress was a surprise guest during the Kansas City stop of the Eras Tour last month to celebrate the release of the “I Can See You” music video.

Joey starred in Taylor‘s “Mean” video when she was younger and she reunited with the pop star for the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) vault track. In a new interview, she explained what it felt like to be on stage in front of 70,000 people.

“That’s a different level,” Joey told CNN. “It’s a very niche experience to walk out on a stage of 70,000 plus people.”

Joey said that she didn’t know she was going on stage until moments before the concert began, when Taylor told her the plan.

“I was like, ‘Bring me on stage?’ She was like, ‘Didn’t I tell you?’ I was like ‘You did not tell me I was going on stage,’” Joey said with a laugh. “Oh my God. I started sweating and freaking out and I got really nervous. But it was incredible to just have that experience and feel that energy coming at you.”

“The best way to describe it was like, when the doors opened and I walked out, it’s like that feeling when you get in an ice bath,” she said. “It just takes your breath away and you’re genuinely caught for breath. It was truly a breathtaking experience to see all those people that are sending all this energy at you directly. It was exhilarating.”

Joey said it was an “immediate yes” to doing the video.

“She showed me the treatment for the video that she had written and it was an immediate ‘yes’ for me. I love Taylor, who doesn’t, she’s amazing,” she said.

Joey spoke with CNN while promoting her work with Hill’s Pet Nutrition and their Clear The Shelters campaign. She recently adopted a dog while in Romania!
