Just like most women out there, Katy Perry had a very special vision in mind for her big wedding day!
Of course, that plan involved finally wearing white and saying “I Do” to her fiancé Orlando Bloom. As you’re likely aware, the couple is expecting their first child together and based on the timing of it all, the pop starlet was reportedly SO excited to walk down the aisle while showing off her growing baby bump. Unfortunately, mounting concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19) has forced the couple to postpone their nuptials — which means Katy’s plan definitely won’t be happening. Sorry, girl!

A source tells People the pair recently put their wedding venue in Japan on hold and have asked loved ones to cancel their flights until further notice:
“The wedding is definitely postponed. Katy was actually really excited about walking down the aisle pregnant. She thought it would be funny and cute to be in her wedding dress with a baby bump. All her friends were joking that it was so her luck because they’ve been totally ready to start a family for a while now.”
What a bummer! The Firework singer has been serving serious pregnancy style before it was even officially announced she was expecting and it would’ve been so cool to see her take on a bumping bridal gown. Considering how far along she appears to be, Perry will most likely give birth before the global pandemic is fully contained. But of course, the silver lining here is the parents-to-be are still safe, healthy, and happily in love as they wait for the right time to resume their plans.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
Despite being “a little disappointed” by the last-minute changes, the source added Katy and Orly are taking it all in stride:
“Now they can just enjoy their time together before the baby arrives. They’re going to pick up on wedding planning again after the baby arrives.”
In the meantime, the entertainer is keeping busy with her existing work commitments as a judge on American Idol and putting in hours on her new album reportedly dropping in the summer. She does have plans to scale back and make time to prep for motherhood closer to her due date though, says the source.
Additionally, a friend of Bloom’s told the outlet Perry is excited to give her man’s 9-year-old son Flynn — from a previous marriage to Miranda Kerr — a new sibling:
“Katy can’t wait to be a mom, and she feels so lucky to share this journey with Orlando. She was always attracted to the fact that Orlando is a great dad. He is excited to give Flynn another sibling.”
Ahh, we’re counting down the days right along with them! As reported, the exciting baby news was revealed in the music video for Katy’s latest single, Never Worn White. She opened up about using the song for the announcement while appearing on Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show last week, noting:
“I’m excited for it. It’s not the lead single off of the next record — it’s like a way for me to tell people I’m not fat, I’m just pregnant!”
