Miley Cyrus may be dredging up deets from their relationship in her music and interviews, but it’s safe to say Liam Hemsworth is well past that point.
The actor has a new lady, Gabriella Brooks, and a new life back in his home country of Australia. While Miley has been reflecting on their shared past — going all the way back to their teen years — it really seems like Liam has all that in his rear view mirror.

A source for E! News confirmed:
“Liam is happy to have moved on and is living a completely different life now.”
However, that wasn’t an easy place for the Aussie to get to:
“The way things ended between them didn’t sit well [with him] and he was saddened by it all. It took him time to come to terms with the end of their relationship and to process it all.”
It’s not hard to guess what “saddened” the Hunger Games actor. Miley’s quick rebound with Kaitlynn Carter is probably a major candidate, but let’s not forget the scathing breakup ballad Slide Away, in which she seemed to accuse Liam of a substance abuse problem and an inability to grow up.
All in all, we can see why Chris Hemsworth’s little brother reportedly has a “low opinion” of his ex-wife, especially when a year later, she’s still spilling tea on private details of their romance and dropping music that paints him in a bad light (her new single Midnight Sky suggested Liam kept Miley’s “hands tied” during their 10-year relationship).
Luckily, the 30-year-old has a strong support system. An insider for Us Weekly explained:
“[He] has had the support of his family to help him move on. Liam has been trying to be as private as possible and respectful about their relationship and breakup, and it’s a shame to him and his family that certain aspects about his and Miley’s relationship have been made public. He’s a very traditional and good guy and was very hurt by the way specific instances played out in front of the world.”
Despite all the drama, Hemsworth seems to have come out the other side stronger and wiser. The E! insider shared:
“He knows that he is in a better place and that they needed to move on from one another.”
For her part, the former Disney star has spoken about being “villainized” in the couple’s split, and how growing up can naturally mean growing apart in relationships. Coming off of a breakup from Cody Simpson, she told SiriusXM:
“I think we’re kind of set up for devastation in that, from the time we’re little kids, we’re taught to claim other humans as our best friends forever. And you just don’t know who you’re going to be sitting with here right now. You never know who you’re going to evolve to be and who they’re going to evolve to be.”
We can’t deny those words of wisdom! Hopefully both Miley and Liam have evolved into a happier, healthier place over the past year.
