The legal gods may have just smiled on Lori Loughlin!
According to TMZ, the disgraced sitcom star may not have to go to trial after all in the thick of her college admissions scandal case, as there’s now apparently an opening for a plea bargain on the heels of Felicity Huffman’s extremely light prison sentence.
Multiple sources involved in the many active college admissions cases say the Fuller House star’s light at the end of the tunnel came during the probation department’s sentencing report for the Desperate Housewives alum.
Apparently, prosecutors insisted other people suffered a loss as a result of Felicity’s actions, arguing someone else who took the SAT was probably denied admission somewhere because Felicity’s daughter Sophia scored higher than she should have due to her answers being changed.

However, the probation department said that’s not the case, and reportedly would have been fine with giving Felicity no prison time at all!
This perspective from the probation office has caused prosecutors to worry about Lori’s trial, specifically, the embarrassment that could come for the office if the mother of two goes to trial, gets convicted, and receives a short sentence like Huffman. (US Attorney sources previously told the outlet prosecutors wanted a year behind bars for Felicity, but they only got 14 days.)
Interestingly enough, Lori’s particular alleged bribe could be seen as even less of a punishable offense than Felicity’s, seeing as paying $500,000 to have her daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose designated as members of the USC crew team didn’t really affect anyone else.
So, despite the fact the actress faces a maximum of 40 years, she is now far more likely to get a sentence that could be measured in weeks — which is why the US Attorney is now reportedly open to plea discussions. Basically, it’s looking good for Loughlin.
The 55-year-old’s daughters, meanwhile, have officially cut ties with USC. According to an ET source, Olivia and Bella are no longer enrolled at the university.
The insider added that despite the scandal initially causing drama amid the family, Loughlin and her daughters have never been closer, explaining:
“What started as Olivia cutting herself off from her mother has been a complete turnaround. Both girls have joined together because they both feel their mother only wanted the best for them. Her daughters are now much closer than they have ever been. At first when the news broke, it felt like her family life imploded, but the family has joined together and have built a united front. They are there for her and each other.”
As for Huffman, she’s currently living her best life in a luxury prison as she serves 13 of her 14-day prison sentence after pleading guilty to paying $15,000 to have a proctor rig Sophia’s SAT exam.
Do U think Lori will receive a laughably short prison sentence after all this?
