As we all know, 2020 has been a perfect s**tstorm so far, and it appears we’ve now reached the stage where it’s starting to rain cats and dogs, only literally and painfully.
According to the New York Post, a man in China was out walking his dog in the city of Harbin, in the country’s Heilongjiang province, when a cat fell from the balcony of a building and landed directly on the man’s head. As seen in CCTV footage (below), the falling kitty knocked the man to the ground and reportedly left him unconscious. A bystander called emergency services, and the man was eventually taken to be treated at a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, this cartoonish cat-astrophe had a major impact on the victim: according to Metro, the elderly dog walker sustained a cervical spinal cord injury from the feline landing on his head. Fortunately, he was discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home in a neck brace. He is seeking compensation for his medical bills related to the falling cat from the feline’s owner, who is reportedly one of the man’s neighbors.
The cat, meanwhile, appears to have left the incident without a scratch, just shaking it off and sauntering away from the poor man’s dog. It’s unclear whether or not the fall cost the animal one of its nine lives.
