Meghan Trainor is not here for the hot takes about how she welcomed her newest bundle of joy.
The pop princess just welcomed baby number three, and instead of tiptoeing around the topic, she’s speaking out loud and proud about surrogacy in a way that feels very on-brand for her no-BS energy.
The Still Don’t Care singer and her longtime love — Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara — quietly expanded their family a few days ago with the arrival of their daughter, Mikey Moon, via surrogate. And while some celebs might gloss over the details, Meghan is opening up about the very real, very personal reasons behind the surrogacy move.

She told People on Wednesday:
“It wasn’t our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family. We are forever grateful for that option.”
That says it all. This wasn’t a trendy Hollywood choice or some shortcut to avoid pregnancy. This was a carefully considered, doctor-approved decision rooted in health, safety — and love!
Also!!! Meghan and Daryl are already parents to sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 2, both of whom Meghan carried herself, and she’s been painfully honest in the past about how traumatic those experiences could be. So, when critics clutch their pearls about surrogacy, Meghan has a message for them, and it’s crystal clear:
“I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper about or judge. It’s rooted in trust, science, love, and teamwork. Every family’s journey looks different, and all of them are extremely valid.”
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!! This isn’t just a defense of her own family. It’s a mic drop moment for anyone who’s felt shamed for how they became a parent.

She also had nothing but glowing praise for the woman who carried Mikey Moon, making it clear this was a deeply connected, emotional experience rather than some cold transaction:
“Our surrogate is one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I’ve ever met. We felt so connected throughout the entire journey, and I’ll always be grateful for the care and love she showed our daughter. She gave us the greatest gift of our lives. She graciously answered our many check-in texts to make sure she was doing okay.”
