Natalie Wood’s Daughter Blasts ‘Outrageous’ Robert Wagner Murder Theory!

The case may have officially been closed many years ago, but the intrigue around the death of Natalie Wood lives on.

As you probably know, the Rebel Without A Cause star was spending the weekend on her yacht with husband Robert Wagner and friend Christopher Walken, with whom she was filming a movie, when she was lost at sea on November 29, 1989. Her death was later ruled an accidental drowning, but ever since then the circumstances surrounding the incident have not sat right with many people.

The case was even reopened in 2011, but after two months no evidence was found to overrule the previous theory that Natalie had been intoxicated and just slipped.

However, over the past couple years we’ve seen new evidence presented, largely by Natalie’s sister, Lana Wood, who declared publicly in 2018 she counts herself among those Hollywood conspiracy theorists who believe Wagner murdered his wife.

Well now another family member is fighting back against that theory. Natasha Gregson Wagner, Natalie’s daughter with Richard Gregson, has written a memoir called More Than Love: An Intimate Portrait of My Mother, Natalie Wood, in which she wants to tell her mother’s full story — but also responds to the years of speculation.

The 49-year-old, who was raised by Robert Wagner (or RJ as his friends call him) tells People:

“It’s outrageous and completely unacceptable that others have created this narrative about my dad and the night my mom died. I know that if my mom had been in any kind of distress he would have given his life for her. I know that as well as I know my name.”

Natasha, an actress in her own right whom you may have seen in Lost Highway or Two Guys And A Girl, also filmed a documentary called Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind, which is set to premiere on HBO on May 5.

Natasha was only 11 years old when her mother died, and for decades she wanted to block out any details about the incident. But now she’s doing her best to tell the full story.

In the most anticipated moment of the doc, she interviews her stepfather about what happened that weekend. In a preview, he tells her about the moment he got the news her body had been found:

“Everything went out from under me. That night has gone through my mind many times.”

Chilling! We have to see this doc!

So what made Natasha decide to finally delve into this story? She explains:

“Sharing my experience of grief and trauma and heartbreak and deep sadness, maybe connects us to others who have felt that way. In the shared retelling, there is healing. I know she wanted me to write the book and she wanted the documentary to be made, and this is how she wants to be remembered.”
