Ugh. As if this is something to even be proud of?!

We’re a bit disturbed to report rapper and actor T.I. recently admitted he accompanies his teenage daughter, Deyjah Harris (pictured, inset), to the gynecologist every year after her birthday to ensure her “hymen is intact” and that she is still a virgin.

Yes, really!

How emotionally violating!!!!

The shocking admission came when the 39-year-old entertainer appeared as a guest on Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham‘s Ladies Like Us podcast where he stressed why his 18-year-old daughter should not have sex yet, among other eyebrow-raising comments.

The father of six explained his unusual personal method of making sure Deyjah’s keeping her legs closed as she pursues a degree in college this year. He said:

“Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”

Seriously??

The ATL movie star said he made somewhat of a tradition out of the regularly scheduled doc visits by leaving a note reminder on Harris’ door:

“So it’s this one time we go, I think this might have been after her 16th birthday. This is what we do. Right after the birthday we celebrate. Usually like the day after the party, she’s enjoying her gifts. I put a sticky note on the door: “Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.”

Of course, as our readers know, there’s an important and well-known legal caveat out there which explicitly states doctors can’t share a patient’s information without their consent.

“So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism. He’s like, ‘You know sir, I have to, in order to share information’—I’m like, ‘Deyjah they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you wouldn’t want me to know? See doc? No problem.’”

Unbelievable. So much for Deyjah’s right to privacy about her body…

For the record, it’s absolutely worth noting there are many different ways a woman’s hymen can break and many of ’em have nothing to do with having sex. The tiny piece of mucosal tissue which surrounds or partially covers the external vaginal opening can be ruptured if someone has sex, of course, but also if the individual uses a tampon, rides a bike, rides a horse, does gymnastics, or any form of strenuous physical activity, according to Mayo Clinic.

So, there are definitely some holes in Tip’s theory here. Not to mention, it’s ridiculous, gross, and unnecessarily invasive.

However, the hip-hop heavyweight says he didn’t pay the docs any mind when they reminded him of this at various visits:

“So I say, “Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously.”

Per their most recent trip to the clinic, he’s proud to report everything’s still “intact” down there.

Things only got more cringeworthy from there as T.I. further defended his actions, explaining he thinks a lot of people wish their parents had been more protective of them at a younger age.

And yet later on in the conversation, Harris puts his foot in his mouth even further when he suggested men don’t like virgins because “they’re no fun” and require “all that work.”

Honestly, as much as we’re not a fan of the patriarch’s actions, the real loser here is Deyjah as she’s under far more scrutiny than her 15-year-old brother, King Harris, who admitted he’s already sexually active on a June 2019 episode of the family’s VH1 reality show.

Unsurprisingly, T.I. took that piece of news without so much as a scoff. At the time, he said:

“I don’t want any of my children to have sex before it’s time for them, but who’s to say when it’s time? However, I will definitely feel different about a boy than I will about a girl. And that’s just the God’s honest truth. I don’t think there’s any father out there who’ll tell you any different.”

Sigh, misogyny at its finest. Excuse us while we bang our heads against a wall now…
