While some celebs have been told they need to lose weight for their roles, Rebel Wilson experienced quite the opposite.
In fact, the Pitch Perfect actress, who has been slowing off her svelte physique on Instagram as of late, shared with The Sun this week that she was “paid a lot of money” to maintain her original figure.

Ahead of the coronavirus pandemic, the 40-year-old had dubbed 2020 “the year” for her to focus on her health and body, though we can imagine things have been slightly derailed thanks to COVID-19. Rebel explained:
“Weirdly this year was always going to be the year of health. I’ve been naming my years now, and, that’s kind of having these resolutions but for the whole year. I always thought that I may be psychic and I always felt this year I wasn’t really going to work much. I turned 40 as well in March and so I thought, this is gonna be it. This is going to be the year for me to just concentrate on the health benefits.”
However, it’s more than what’s on the scale! Instead of focusing on a “certain number,” Wilson divulged how it was more of a mental challenge to deal with “overeating” and being paid “to be bigger.” She continued:
“It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number. It’s more than that, it’s about dealing mentally with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit.”
Wow! That’s really crazy to hear. As you’re likely aware, her role as Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect is what really put her on the map, but also featured a lot of jokes at the expense of her physical appearance.
The Aussie added:
“So now I’m just trying to work on the mental side and the physical job and doing a lot of personal training and, and on the nutrition side like it’s, it’s cool I should probably write a book at some point about it because people seem to be interested.”
We’d definitely love to read it!
So, how exactly has she been getting healthier? With the help of celebrity personal trainer Jono Castano Acero, a typical week includes high-intensity interval training (HIIT), mobility, resistance, weights, technique and tempo, and one day of rest:
“There’s no real simple answer to it. I’ve been trying a lot of different things and to be healthy.”
We love to see health coming first, whether it be mental or physical! Right now, it sounds like Rebel is grappling with the emotional side amid this journey, which is truly worth celebrating! Thoughts on this, Perezcious readers?? Let us know (below) in the comments!
