Ryan Phillippe has settled his assault lawsuit with Elsie Hewitt.
As we reported first back in 2017, the model accused the Cruel Intentions actor of domestic abuse, which then resulted in an emergency protective order and lawsuit against him.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast on Friday, the 45-year-old told the court he and Hewitt — who he does not consider to be a “girlfriend” of any kind — reached an agreement days before their scheduled trial on October 15.
Because of this, his ex, Reese Witherspoon, will not have to testify. Previously, Hewitt listed her as a witness who she planned on calling to the stand. Phillippe fought hard to block this from happening.
Per legal papers, Elsie alleges the drama began when Ryan got jealous after a party because other men were paying her attention while he got “ignored.”
The next day, Hewitt claims she went to his house to retrieve her belongings, and allegedly found him drunk. Then after an argument, she claims Phillippe got violent and “hit,” “kicked,” “punched,” and threw her “down flight of stairs causing visible injuries to legs back, arms, shoulder and face.”
Allegedly, he even tried to contact her afterward.
Additionally, Hewitt says the star abuses substances such as “cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and steroids,” adding:
“Phillippe increasingly combined these drugs with excessive alcohol consumption and often exhibited symptoms attendant of poly drug and alcohol abuse, including mood swings and bouts of anger.”
However, Ryan has denied the allegations multiple times. In September 2017, a spokesperson said:
“As a staunch advocate for the health, well-being and equality of women, Ryan is completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated. Domestic violence is an incredibly serious issue and fabricated and proven false claims should not be used to unjustly slander the falsely accused. The claims are false.”
That same month, he released a statement on Twitter, penning:
“I am saddened and disgusted by the false allegations being circulated about me. At the time these allegations were initially made, I fully cooperated with law enforcement and a thorough investigation was conducted.
As a man, raised by women, in a household where women’s rights, feminism, and advocacy were very much at the forefront. I am sickened that my name can be found in any article where domestic violence of any kind is being alleged.
I have been a public figure for almost 25 years and many untrue things have been said or written about me in the past. That is something you learn to accept if you choose a professional like mine.
This time is different.
Domestic violence is a very real and tragic issue faced by many women the world over and should never be used to vengefully slander as a ploy for monetary gain.
This is wrong. This is not who I am. Every one of the accuser’s allegations are false.”
In September 2019 documents, Phillippe claims he acted in self-defense to protect the “female guest present in his bedroom.”
Case closed, we guess?
