Christine Brown has finally come out and said it.
On an upcoming episode of Sister Wives, as teased in the just-released TLC trailer, the mother of six admits that she left Kody Brown, at least in part, due to his feelings for Robyn Brown.
“To Kody, Robyn [Brown]’s more important,” Christine says in the preview, going public with this admission for the first time.
This, of course, has been the worst kept secret on reality television for years now — as Robyn is Kody’s only legal wife and he spends most of his time at her house.
“I have decided to leave. I’m going to leave Kody,” Christine also declares in the promo.
The long-time reality star announced in November that she was done with this unhealthy relationship after more than two decades as a polygamous spouse.
As for Robyn? And her reaction to this bombshell decision?
“I’m not ready for Christine to leave,” she says in this same trailer.
She later seems to hurl some subtle shade in Christine’s direction.
“I would never do anything to this family to hurt it,” she adds in a confessional interview. “I just wish that people could see that.”
Viewers might disagree with this statement, of course.
It’s long been rumored and/or discussed that Robyn — directly or indirectly, overly or almost accidentally — has consistently hurt the family by remaining so close to Kody.
Astute observers even noted on Reddit that Robyn was wearing a necklace with an infinity emblem on it while Christine and Kody were arguing about their past, present and future.
“Way to troll everyone by showing up to a divorce meeting with an infinity necklace,” one person wrote online.
“Which also has the added effect of reminding the wives of how their retirement money was wasted on your stupid failure of a jewelry business.”
Another spoofed Robyn’s inner thoughts, stating: “Infinity. That’s how long I’ve been in this family.”
Sister Wives Season 17 kicks off on Sunday, September 11 at 10/9c and it’s clear the network will be leaning into this family feud.
The official poster, for example, features Christine standing apart from her fellow sister wives.
The aforementioned trailer, meanwhile, emphasizes just how angry Kody is by Christine’s departure.
He holds nothing back in their exchange.
“You never tried to have a really good relationship with these people and that’s the reason I’m pissed off,” Kody yells at Christine in the footage… as Robyn and Janelle Brown look on.
He adds in anger:
“Man, just the knife in the kidneys over all these years. All the sacrifices that I’ve made to love you.”
What a lovely guy, huh?
We have no idea why Christine wouldn’t want to stay with him forever and ever.
