Well, here’s one way to resurrect a franchise!
Sony dropped the trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife on Monday, showing a peek at its second attempt to revive the property after 2016’s not-so-successful reboot starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.
This time around, the studio traded lady ghostbusters for child ghostbusters, and the resulting trailer looks like it won’t upset the incels of the internet. So, that’s a good start!
The Stranger Things-esque, 2-minute-and-30-second trailer shows Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace as two siblings who follow their single mom (Carrie Coon) into a creepy old farmhouse left to them by their late grandfather.

After some exploring, the kids discover the family history connected to the original Ghostbusters gang before getting their hands on some devices that fans will recognize from the 1984 film. Twitter is already hailing the magical trailer, particularly Paul Rudd in the role of a schoolteacher who tells the kids about the paranormal events that unfolded in NYC back in the ‘80s.
Afterlife was co-written and directed by Jason Reitman, the son of the original film’s director, Ivan Reitman. Several stars from the OG flick are set to appear in this upcoming paranormal fantasy; including Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts.
