[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

Imagine a world where two young adults from each state come together to battle it out for stuffy politicians to watch from the comfort of their mansions… Yes, that’s the plot of The Hunger Games. And yes, it’s what Donald Trump now has planned for the United States!

On Thursday, the controversial President announced a series of plans for the 250th anniversary of the US next year:

“In my campaign for President, I plan to give America the most spectacular birthday party the world has ever seen for America’s 250th anniversary on July 4th next year.”

He teased “much, much more to come,” in 2026 after the 250th anniversary of the US Army earlier this year, including “the first ever Patriot Games” in the fall.

The Patriot Games?? What the hell is that? Trump revealed:

“An unprecedented four-day athletic event featuring the greatest high school athletes, one young man and one young woman from each state and territory.”

Holy s**t! Is that not LITERALLY the premise of Jennifer Lawrence‘s The Hunger Games?! Watch his full announcement, which Trump pointedly promised his supporters will exclude transgender athletes (below):

On X (Twitter), users were quick to draw comparisons:

“So, kinda like the Hunger Games?”

“we’re like 3 generations from a hunger games aren’t we”

“If a girl volunteers for her little sister, make sure to accept it”

“please call the selection process ‘The Reaping’!”

“Didn’t have The Hunger Games on the bingo card”

“I do not volunteer as tribute”

“MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR”
