What Britney Spears Was Doing Hours Before DUI Arrest!

More details have emerged about Britney Spears‘ DUI.

As we previously reported, the 44-year-old pop star was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles on Wednesday night after police caught her allegedly swerving in and out of lanes while speeding. Sources familiar with the investigation claimed to TMZ that cops found an “unknown substance” in her car, which will be part of the arrest once the test is complete. Oof. But what happened on the day leading up to the bust?

According to Page Six on Thursday, a source close to Britney alleged she was drinking and enjoying some “alone” time that day. Hours before her arrest, she even posted videos of herself dancing at her house on Instagram, which has since been deleted. They said:

“She was alone. She had been at her house and just wanted to go for a drive.”

Oof! Never get behind the wheel while intoxicated! The insider claimed the Toxic singer told cops she had “just one single mimosa in the afternoon,” adding:

“It was a mistake. She didn’t think she was under the influence of anything.”

Britney was taken to the hospital to get her blood drawn to determine her blood alcohol content. The results of the test aren’t out, but she reportedly told people it was .06, below the legal limit of .08 in California. However, cops can still arrest you if they catch you erratically, which she allegedly was.

The source went on to stress that Britney “needs help.” Although she has been working on herself since her conservatorship ended in November 2021, they claimed that “events over the past year have made that journey much, much harder.” We heard she was having a tough time following the release of her ex-husband/baby daddy Kevin Federline‘s memoir, in which he shared some pretty shocking and horrifying allegations about Brit. It sounds like she is now willing to get treatment, though.

Per the source, the Crossroads actress is hoping the judge will be “lenient on her” and will get her “proper treatment” and “the help that she needs” instead of jail time. It’s something her friends want, too. Page Six reports Britney’s family, including sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, are standing behind her during this time:

“Her family have been rallying around her. Her sons do not live with her, but they now live close by. They moved so they could be nearer to her because closeness benefitted all of them and they want to be in her life.”

The goal is reportedly for Britney to attend a treatment center and “start the journey to get better.” Hopefully she can get the help she needs. All anyone wants is for her to get better.
