White Woman Apologizes For Calling Cops On Black Man Who Asked Her To Leash Dog — Details On Her Identity & The Fallout HERE!

The viral story heard ’round the world on Monday just got a little bit crazier…

As you no doubt saw if you’ve been on social media in the last 12 hours or so, a white woman in Central Park went viral online after being caught on video calling the police on a black man who had simply asked her to put her dog on a leash. The incident went down in The Ramble, a popular bird-watching area in New York City’s famed park where dogs are not allowed to be off leash.

Amy Cooper, quickly identified as the woman in the viral video (shown below) has now publicly apologized, been forced to relinquish her dog, and has been suspended from her job all due to her “indefensible” actions on Sunday morning. ICYMI as it’s been going around, here’s the video in question which relays the incident with the unleashed dog, and Cooper’s unfortunate response:

Central Park this morning: This woman's dog is tearing through the plantings in the Ramble.ME: Ma'am, dogs in the Ramble have to be on the leash at all times. The sign is right there.HER: The dog runs are closed. He needs his exercise.ME: All you have to do is take him to the other side of the drive, outside the Ramble, and you can let him run off leash all you want.HER: It's too dangerous.ME: Look, if you're going to do what you want, I'm going to do what I want, but you're not going to like it.HER: What's that?ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!HER: He won't come to you.ME: We'll see about that…I pull out the dog treats I carry for just for such intransigence. I didn't even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.HER: DON'T YOU TOUCH MY DOG!!!!!That's when I started video recording with my iPhone, and when her inner Karen fully emerged and took a dark turn…

Yikes!!! The man shooting the video, Christian Cooper (unrelated to Amy), is black. Social media viewers were horrified and justifiably outraged, then, when they saw Amy’s immediate jump to call the police on “an African American man threatening my life” when all he was trying to do was get her to put her dog on a leash. Some people…

Within hours, Amy was publicly outed, with online sleuths finding her place of work and even coming across a previous story about how she’d saved her dog from a choking incident. Ironic, considering she chokes the poor dog repeatedly while arguing with Christian…

Amy Responds… And Pays For It…

After her name and face went all kinds of viral overnight on Monday, the woman responded, telling CNN that she “didn’t mean any harm to the African-American community” in a Tuesday morning interview.

She continued from there, adding:

“[I want to publicly apologize to everyone. I’m not a racist. I did not mean to harm that man in any way … I think I was just scared. When you’re alone in the Ramble, you don’t know what’s happening. It’s not excusable, it’s not defensible. … [my] entire life is being destroyed right now.”

That last part sure is right, at least.

For one, her cocker spaniel has been surrendered to the rescue group from which she first adopted the dog several years ago. Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue posted the notice on their Facebook page late Monday night, confirming they’d re-taken possession of the dog seen in the viral video:

Thank you to the concerned public for reaching out to us about a video involving a dog that was adopted from our rescue…

Wow. Talk about swift action!

In addition to that, Amy’s employer Franklin Templeton Investments has placed her on administrative leave while they investigate the situation, as they too confirmed in a tweet on Monday evening (below):

Again — talk about serious, immediate consequences.

Aside from social media flaming and viral fallout, it’s unclear what the legal consequences of this incident could be. By the time cops arrived, both Amy and Christian had left the area, according to CNN.

At least for his part, Christian is open to moving forward from here, even as this viral story continues to grow. Speaking to the media outlet, the avid bird watcher said of Amy:

“I videotaped it because I thought it was important to document things. Unfortunately we live in an era with things like Ahmaud Arbery, where black men are seen as targets. This woman thought she could exploit that to her advantage, and I wasn’t having it … but if [her apology] is genuine and if she plans on keeping her dog on a leash in the Ramble going forward, then we have no issues with each other.”

Well then!

What do U make of this whole thing, Perezcious readers? Completely out of line to call the cops on a man asking you to put your dog on a leash in an area that requires it, right?! Can’t ever defend that action — and, thankfully, at least Amy said as much.

And what about the fallout?? Sound OFF with your take on it down in the comments (below)…
