It will all be worth it in the end, that much is certain.
There's no doubt that Abbie Burnett and John David Duggar will be thankful and gracious and as excited as two people can be once the former gives birth to their first child.
But this doesn't mean it's been an easy journey for Burnett.
Far from it, in fact.
On Tuesday's new episode of Counting On, viewers watched as Abbie really struggled with her pregnancy.
Not in any traditional sense, either; not in a way in which she was simply out of energy or growing nauseous at home or anything.
It was a lot worse than that.
“I am currently eight weeks along and I’m feeling awful,” Abbie said on the latest installment of this reality show, adding:
“I pretty much just been lying in bed, go to the bathroom and maybe to the couch. … Morning sickness has hit me pretty hard.”
We then learned that husband John David had taken her to the emergency room a couple times.
“I’ve been admitted to the hospital a couple of times on top of that. It’s been a pretty rough go of it," Abbie explained on air.
That totally sucks, but the news shouldn't come as a shock to loyal Duggar Family supporters and followers.
In late October, we reported that Burnett had been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, a general pregnancy complication that is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and possibly dehydration.
Women who suffer from it may also even faint on occasion.
Thankfully, the condition does not affect the baby in any way.
But still, like we just said, it totally sucks for the mother.
“She couldn’t eat, pretty much, or drink, or anything. So she was actually on IVs and had IVs at home,” John David said at the time. “So that was a pretty scary time.
We can only imagine, yeah.
Even though Abbie has already been through quite a lot with her pregnancy, she said on this episode that she's determined to maintain a positive outlook.
“At this point, I have to remind myself why I’m so sick,” she said. “It honestly hasn’t been very enjoyable. I just keep saying, ‘There’s a baby coming! There’s a baby coming! This has a good ending."
The best ending, most parents would say.
We can't wait to meet this couple's little one.
John David and Abbie got married in November of 2018 and wasted no time at all having unprotected sex in the hopes of procreationg.
They told fans that they were expanding their family back in August, sharing a photo from their aviation-based shoot to announce the glorious news.
"We are on Cloud 9 about welcoming our own little Duggar into the world," the husband and wife wrote on their joint Instagram account, adding:
"It really is amazing to think about being parents and having our own child to raise. We are thankful that God has blessed us with this new life and we look forward to taking on this new adventure!”
About a week later, the couple broke its baby gender news.
We couldn’t be more excited to announce...ITS A GIRL!!!" they said, confirming this daughter is due in January.
That's next month, you guys! Hooray!
