Josiah Duggar and Lauren Duggar were brought to tears on Tuesday night's episode of Counting On.
For an utterly heartbreaking reason, too.
The latest installment of this TLC reality show, titled "A Surprise Delivery," featured Josiah and Lauren visiting the hospital in order to meet Jessa Duggar's newborn daughter, Ivy Jane.
It was an emotional introduction for the couple on a pair of fronts.
First, of course, that they were meeting a very young and precious brand new family members.
Secondly, however, because seeing Jessa's infant child forced Josiah and Lauren to reminisce about their own baby girl... who they lost last year to a miscarriage.
“Our first baby, Asa, which we miscarried actually had the same due date as Ivy and so, it was really sweet meeting Ivy for the first time,” Josiah said on air while opening up about the bittersweet experience.
He added:
“For us, it was kind of hard to just holding that little one … realizing they get to hold this one, but ours is in heaven.”
We truly cannot imagine.
Back in February, Josiah and Lauren appeared in a video that revealed to fans that the latter suffered a miscarriage in October of 2018.
"A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren said in the footage, while Josiah chimed in at the time:
"It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married.
"And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes."
On this week's Counting On episode, Lauren also admitted that she was kind of “scared” to hold Ivy, explaining why as follows:
“I didn’t want to cry, but it was just too much emotions. It was really hard for me. A lot of emotions that can only be felt through tears."
Despite the pain of this miscarriage, and the reminder of what could have been upon meeting little Ivy Jane, Josiah and Lauren shocked fans by announcing three months later that they were expecting their first baby.
Amazing, right?
The couple then welcomed this child in November.
"After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived,” the famous husband and wife revealed to Us Weekly, adding:
"When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro all the pain instantly went away.
"We can’t believe she is ours - she is so perfect! She definitely has lived up to her name which means, ‘beautiful miracle.’ Today we are basking in God’s goodness!"
Fast forward a few weeks and Lauren shared a handful of Bella baby photos, while also gushing over her daughter.
"It’s hard to believe Bella is already a month old!" wrote the reality star alongside the picture above, concluding in this caption:
"She is the sweetest, happiest, and most content little baby. She brings us so much joy."
