Sister Wives Recap: Kody Takes On Robyn… and God!

Should you buy or rent?

This is a fairly common question asked by individuals and couples across the country, as they debate exactly what is most financially prudent for themselves and/or their family.

It can lead to some heated arguments and disagreements.

But Kody Brown and Robyn Brown took the topic to an entirely new level of anger and depth on Sunday night's Sister Wives, getting into their most vicious fight as husband and wife...

... and somehow invoking a higher power the process.

As has been the case throughout this show's run in 2020, the main subject of this installment was the family's move to Flagstaff, Arizona.

Unlike past episodes, however, tension mounted between Kody and his spouses NOT specifically over the former's desire to build one giant home for everyone --  but rather the former's desire to purchase property in the first place.

Down with Kody Brown

“Alright kids, guess what? We got some news,” Kody said at one point on Sunday night, breaking the hearts of his children and adding:

“And the news is, this house is up for sale and it’s been sold.”

Robyn’s 20-year-old son, Dayton, asked “Really?” to  which Kody replied:

“Yes, we’re out in 60 days.”

Robyn Brown Looks Sullen

The family, of course, has been through a great deal of instability since booking it out of Las Vegas two years ago.

As a result, both Dayton and his younger sister, 17-year-old Aurora, looked like they were in shock over what their dad told them; they really did not want to pick up and move once again.

“We’re having a really hard time trying to find a rental. I don’t know what to do at this point,” Robyn told her kids along these lines, only for Kody to offer up a solution.

They're gonna buy a house.

And that was that, too. In Kody's view, this was not a matter for discussion.

(We mean, in Kody's view, is anything ever a matter for discussion with his Sister Wives? Or is it just, whatever he says goes at all times?)

“Well, we don’t have to do that, we have a little bit of time to keep looking for a rental,” Robyn tried to argue.

In the couple’s joint confessional, they continued to bickere over the situation and the two real estate options.

Robyn Brown, Unhappy

“I guess Kody decided to tell the kids he wants to buy, so …” Robyn said as she trailed off.

Kody then attempted to calmly explain the reason for his decision.

“It’s not a matter of wanting love, it’s a matter of there is only one choice here provided,” he said.

Robyn exhaled loudly, seemed extremely frustrated -- and then the conversation veered into some unexpected territory.

Kody Brown Gives a Confessional

“God is not limited by the rules of this earth,” she told her husband. “And if He wants to provide the rental when Hr provides it, it’ll be fine.”

The Browns are practicing Mormons, of course, hence their devotion to plural marriage.

We've heard them talk about their faith before, but never in such a way; never over such a mundane topic.

“I’m not saying that He can’t do that. I’m saying that He’s telling us to do something else,” Kody fired back at Robyn, alleging to know how God wants the family to buy a house.

“He’s not telling me that,” Robyn responded.

In her solo confessional, Robyn delved further into her objection to buying.

“It will set us back as far as moving out to Coyote Pass,” she said. “It’s not just affecting me and my kids if we were to buy and delay, it’s like affecting the whole family."

Kody didn't care, however.

He actually told a producer that he may need to dissolve his relationship with Robyn in the wake of this fight, which is just bat$hit bananas of Kody to even ponder.

Is it too late instead for all four women to dissolve their relationships with Kody? Simultaneously? Leaving him all alone to do whatever the heck he wants?
