Through a spokesperson, Jon Gosselin has issued a statement in his own defense.
The former reality star has spoken out against accusations that he assaulted his own son.
As previously reported, an investigation by the County of Berks, Pennsylvania Child & Youth Service is underway into the former reality star because he's suspected of "causing bodily injury to a child through recent act/failure to act: hitting/punching."
The official report does not name Gosselin as the perpetrator of the abuse.
However, the phrasing above is consistent with an accusation leveled against Jon by his 16-year old son Collin last week on Instagram.
"My dad is a liar," the teenager wrote earlier this month, prior to deleting the post.
Added Collin in this message:
"Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding.
"He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor.
"He is a liar."
Collin took down this post quickly and wrote days later on social media:
“got a new cut and I’m doing better than ever. Life is too great to not enjoy! #livelikeitsyourlastday."
Still, however, a People Magazine source claims an incident did occur this summer between the famous father of eight and his son.
"Collin got furious and was screaming and swearing," this source says, detailing how the alleged altercation started inside the car.
Continued this source:
"When they got home, he was still screaming and cursing and he went into the garage and got ... a big heavy bottle of liquid -- and hurled it at Jon’s car, denting it.
"Jon got out of the car enraged, put him in a headlock, punched him square in the nose, and when Collin fell to the ground, then he kicked him in the ribs."
This same individual says that Gosselin proceeded to call the cops, who arrived to the scene a short time later.
Now, meanwhile, Jon is here to proclaim his innocence.
“Jon has never abused Collin,” a rep for the 43-year old told E! News on Thursday, September 10.
This person went on to allege that "no charges have been filed against him and there’s no ongoing CYS investigation," concluding:
"Collin has endured severe trauma. Jon is a loving father who has worked hard to ensure that his son gets the support and help he needs."
Indeed, Collin was sent to a special needs facility of some kind by his mother, Kate Gosselin, many years ago -- with no real public explanation as to why.
He reportedly accused his mom of abuse while living in this building, sending a letter to Jon and begging him to take him out.
Jon went ahead and did so, frequently trashing his ex-wife in the process and winning temporary custody of Collin in late 2018 when Kate failed to show up for a court hearring.
At the moment, Collin and sister Hannah live with their dad... but none of their six siblings have any sort of relationship with him.
Kate, who has said very little about her ex or about Collin since the latter went to live with the former, exploded to People Magazine yesterday over these abuse allegations.
"You do not punch and kick your children," she told the publication in a statement.
"You do not kick a child.
"I don't want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children."
An understandably irate Kate Gosseliin continued:
"There is a child abuse law, PA 23, section 8i states that doing any of the following, regardless of whether it causes injury, is child abuse, and first on that list is kicking. Period.
"I don't want my children around him. Enough is enough."
The mother of eight and former TLC reality show star says she wants her ex-husband charged as a criminal.
"I do not want this buried, swept under the rug or minimized. As a mother, I am not going to sit quietly and idly by while my child, any of my children, is assaulted by anyone, let alone their own father," she said.
"I am spotlighting this, and I will keep shouting about it, in the hopes that the authorities and the courts will finally do the right thing.
"Do not return my child to an abuser's home. Jon needs to be charged with a crime.
"If this were your child, would you feel okay with having it swept under the rug?"
We'll have more on this tragic situation as news breaks.
For now, as has often been the case when Jon and Kate have clashed, we simply feel awful for the teenager at the center of this drama.
We sincerely hope he and his sisters and brothers are able to one move on from all they've been through and simply thrive as human beings.
