Amanda Bynes Engaged to Some Guy She Met in Rehab; Fans Rightfully Concerned

It can be tough to keep track of what's going on with Amanda Bynes these days.

There have been some encouraging updates in recent years, but sadly, they're almost almost always followed by distressing news of a relapse or mental breakdown.

Back in 2018 Bynes got clean after several years of struggling with substance abuse, but her sobriety didn't last long.

In March of 2019, fans learned that Bynes had checked back into rehab following a series of relapses.

However, we also learned that she had left ahead of schedule and against the advice of her doctors.

In December of that same year, Bynes left rehab early a second time.

After a brief period of homelessness (tragically, we're completely serious), the troubled actress moved back in with her parents.

At this point, the status of Amanda's sobriety is unclear, but needless to say, it's been a tumultuous year for the former child star.

Which is one reason that fans are rightfully concerned about the news that Bynes is newly engaged.

The 28-year-old made the announcement on Instagram this week by posting the above photo.

"Engaged to tha love of my life," she captioned the pic.

Amanda didn't tag anyone in the post, and naturally, fans were curious about the identity of the guy who had won her heart.

"Congrats manda! who is the lucky man," said one commenter.

"I need to know who Amanda Bynes is engaged to," another remarked.

Amanda seemed hesitant to release any info about the love of her life.

But eventually, she posted some pics of her new man (Bynes' face tattoo can also be seen in the photos).

Amanda still has not used her fiance's name on social media, but fans did some digging and identified him as Paul Michael.

The couple met in Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, a program that Amanda credits with helping her maintain her sobriety.

In a revealing 2018 interview with Paper, Bynes stated that alcohol was not her drug of choice, but added that she was prone to self-medicating with whatever substance was most readily available.

“Everybody is different, obviously, but for me, the mixture of marijuana and whatever other drugs and sometimes drinking really messed up my brain,” Amanda said at the time.

“It really made me a completely different person."

"I actually am a nice person," she added. "I would never feel, say or do any of the things that I did and said to the people I hurt on Twitter.”

Bynes has been engaged twice before, but never married.

We wish her all the best - though we join her concerned fans in urging her to proceed with caution.
