It's been over three years since Angelina Jolie separated from Brad Pitt, but folks, this is the celebrity split that just won't die.
Maybe it's because they both have new movies out this year (two major studio releases, in Brad's case), or maybe it's simply because they're two of the most famous people on the planet -- but for whatever reason, Brangelina continues to loom large in our collective imagination.
Last week, we learned that Jolie still feels that she's being held back by Brad, as she's forced to live in the same area as her ex for the sake of their six children.
(Eldest son Maddox recently left for college in Korea, but his five siblings still divide their time between Pitt and Jolie's homes.)
In a surprisingly candid interview with Harper's Bazaar, Jolie stated that she would “love to live abroad,” adding, “Right now, I’m having to base where their father chooses to live.”
Now, a source tells Us Weekly that being semi-permanently tied to the greater Los Angeles area is just one reason that Angie is still mad at Brad:
“Angelina still has a lot of resentment toward Brad,” says a source.
“She wants him to be held accountable because she feels he turned her and the children’s lives upside down," the insider adds.
As you may recall, Jolie reportedly separated from Pitt following an altercation between Brad and Maddox aboard a private jet.
We may never know exactly what went down, but it was bad enough that Angie promptly parted ways with Brad.
Both parties have remained tight-lipped about their breakup, but it seems there's still plenty of bad blood between them.
According to a second insider, Angelina is still angry at Brad not only for breaking up her family, but for putting an end to the lifestyle that she felt was essential to raising their children as true citizens of the world.
“Before the divorce, the entire family led a very nomadic existence, and that was because of Angie’s restlessness,” says a second source.
The informant adds that the disagreement with regard to their children's upbringing resulted in frequent fights:
“Brad wanted the kids to have stability while Angie always said they were giving the children an idyllic childhood by exposing them to different countries, languages and experiences," says the source.
This description differs from the usual narrative, which holds that Brad and Angelina were getting along just fine prior to the jet incident.
Was the couple already having problems? Was Brad's fight with Maddox simply the straw that broke the camel's back?
Given how fiercely these two protect their privacy, we may never know for certain.
