Dancing With the Stars: Who Will Win Season 28?

ABC scraped the bottom of the barrel while casting Dancing With the Stars Season 28.

Some of the casting decisions are downright bizarre, but who will win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy?

That’s the big question, and with a cast as random as this one, it really will come down to the wire.

Weirdly, ABC decided against revealing who these celebrities are being paired up with — presumably to get people to watch live.

It’s a weird decision for sure, and one that makes it difficult to forecast which of these celebrities will make it far.

But that didn’t stop us from rounding up how we think things will shake out.

Scroll down and pick your favorite now!

Dancing With the Stars premieres Monday, September 16 at 8/7c.

1. Sean Spicer – 300-1

Sean spicer dwts cast photo
He wasn’t very good at being the White House press secretary, and nothing about gives us much faith that he will make it far in the competition. Heck, his casting alone caused a social media frenzy, with many bashing the show for casting him. If the viewing audience continue to have an impact on the game, then look for this loser to get the boot. We’re sure he’ll have a press release ready to go in which he tries to spin the whole thing in his favor. It’s what he does.

2. Lamar Odom – 40-1

Lamar odom dwts photo
Lamar only seems to have success in the NBA. He can’t hold down a successful relationship. Add in the fact that NBA players don’t have the best track record in the ballroom. It will all come down to which returning pro he is paired with, but for now, don’t expect much.

3. Ray Lewis – 35-1

Ray lewis dwts photo
Ray has been outed as a liar, so it’s hard to believe that this disgraced pro football player will garner much traction.

4. Sailor Lee Brinkley-Cook – 30-1

Sailor lee brinkley cook poses
Sailor was a last-minute addition because her mother had to exit the series due to an injury during rehearsals. She’s young and should do better than some of the others. But the jury is well and truly out on this one.

5. Kate Flannery – 25-1

Kate flannery dwts cast photo
The Office remains as one of the most popular shows around thanks to the world of streaming. The fans will want to keep Kate in the competition — even if she isn’t cutting the right shapes. It’s sad, but it’s true. This series is a popularity contest.

6. Mary Wilson – 20-1

Mary wilson dwts cast photo
Dancing With the Stars appeals to the older audience — the ones who were probably around when the Supremes were a thing. That should keep Mary in the competitive loop for a while. But she will need to bring her A-game if she wants to make it to the end.

The Vampire Diaries: 28 Secrets from the Set… REVEALED!

It’s hard to believe it, but The Vampire Diaries is officially a decade old.

While that may seem like a short amount of time for some of the vampires who have been alive on the show for centuries, it’s a significant amount of time for us humans who still obsess over the show.

In honor of the 10th anniversary of the premiere, The Hollywood Gossip is here to talk all about the series, and the things that went down behind the scenes.

Oh yes, we’re totally going there. There’s a wealth of secrets to unpack, so we hope you have time.

Scroll down for all the juicy details.

1. Kevin Williamson Almost Wasn’t Involved

Kevin Williamson, who is well known for writing I Know What You Did Last Summer and some of the Scream movies, and for creating Dawson’s Creek almost wasn’t part of the series.

2. The Reason?

Delena forever
“In the beginning when I read it, I didn’t want to be involved with it because I felt it was a sort of Twilight rip-off, no matter which came first,” He admitted to The Independent.

“The premise was exactly the same: girl falls in love with vampire, and I felt that it had been done and that nobody was going to do another vampire story. But then Julie kept telling me to keep reading the books and then I began to realise that it was a story about a small town, about that town’s underbelly and about what lurks under the surface.”

3. The Elena That Almost Wasn’t

Elena cant recall
Fans of the book series were livid when they learned that Nina Dobrev landed the role of Elena Gilbert. But the truth is that Dobrev didn’t impress the showrunners with her audition.

“The funniest story about the first impression of Nina is that she didn’t make an impression,” Julie explained to EW. “None of us remembered seeing her for the first time. And then she, through her agents and the casting directors, said, ‘Hey, listen—I was sick that day, I didn’t do my best work, I really really want this part.” [She] put herself on tape, which then got sent to us and it was so magical and so perfect that she basically had the job from that minute forward.”

4. Ashlee Simpson Almost Played Elena

The network wanted to be in business with Ashlee Simpson.

Said co-executive producer and director Marcos Siega at a SAG event shortly after the series’ debut :

“We couldn’t find the girl we wanted. The network wanted us to hire Ashlee Simpson. …But Nina sent this DVD back and we all were home looking, searching, and we came in the next day saying, ‘We should look at Nina again.’ We showed it to Peter Roth, and Peter only saw her on that tape and he said, ‘That’s her’.”

5. Ashley Tisdale Was Reportedly in Talks for the Role

Ashley tisdale at oscars party close up
Ashley was riding a wave thanks to the success of High School Musical, and there have been many rumors that she was offered the role. However, she is said to have declined to star in the one-and-done Hellcats.

Yup, it seems the producers have a thing for the Ashleys.

6. Many People Wanted the Role of Elena Gilbert

Nina dobrev at 2019 grammys
“Half of Hollywood I think went out for the role, for all our roles,” Nina told E! News of the difficulty in getting the role. “I guess I did something right, here I am. We had to discover and find our characters. Every episode we learned something more and something more, and eventually we created and molded these amazing, awesome characters.”

13 Best Teen Dramas of All Time

Teen dramas have dominated the small screen for decades now.

As such, there are many.

The Hollywood Gossip is here to run down the 13 Best Teen Dramas of all time.

Yes, we’ve narrowed them down to 13!

Did your favorite show make the cut?

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer – The WB/UPN

Buffy the vampire slayer the wb slash upn
It’s hard to believe that a TV show based on a failed movie became such a cultural phenomenon. But Joss Whedon finely tuned the series to make sure that it resonated with teenagers, despite the supernatural elements.

2. Euphoria – HBO

Euphoria hbo
It may only have aired one season, but it features an accurate portrayal of what it’s like to live as a teenager in today’s world. The cast is led by the wonderful Zendaya, who well and truly sticks the middle finger up to that Disney image she was known for.

3. Freaks and Geeks – NBC

Freaks and geeks abc
It was way ahead of its time. It focused on some serious topics that had not been shown on the small screen at the time. On top of that, it had some big stars attached to it.

4. The Vampire Diaries – The CW

The brothers reunite on the vampire diaries
For a show that was compared to a watered-down attempt at Twilight ahead of its launch, The Vampire Diaries proved to be quite the opposite. With twists, turns, and lots of teen angst it started a franchise for The CW.

5. Riverdale – The CW

Archie and veronicas final date
It’s probably the most ridiculous show on this list, but it is so freaking addictive. The teenagers act like adults by being part of gangs and such, while the adults act like teenagers by bed-hopping. Pretty crazy, right?

6. My So-Called Life – ABC

My so called life abc
This series may have lasted only one season, but it was praised for its portrayal of adolescence. The cast members were teenagers at the time and were struggling with the demands of schoolwork while trying to film episodic television. Claire Danes was the one who wanted out, and that’s sort of why the series ended prematurely.

13 TV Shows Canceled Way Too Soon

Saying goodbye to a TV show is tough — especially when they end too soon.

In most cases, the show is canceled because of ratings.

But that isn’t always the case.

These 13 shows ended way too soon and deserved more time to bring the narrative to a close.

1. The Secret Circle – The CW

The secret circle the cw
The Secret Circle was canceled in its prime. The plot was intriguing, and it was backed up by a solid cast. It was let go after just one season, but that didn’t stop fans from campaigning to save it.

2. Santa Clarita Diet – Netflix

This comedy series starred Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as a realtor couple whose lives were rocked when one of them became a zombie. It was hilarious, garnered rave reviews, yet Netflix canceled it after three seasons with no conclusion.

3. Angel – The WB

Angel series finale photo
Angel lasted five seasons, but it deserves a place on this list because the fifth season finale effectively wiped the slate clean, and set up a war between our heroes and the villains of Wolfram & Hart. The war could have served as the final season.

4. Hannibal – NBC

Hannibal pic
This brilliant drama series was saddled with low ratings and terrible timeslots from the get-go. It wasn’t a good fit for broadcast, but NBC could have at least tried to act like they cared about it.

5. Jericho – CBS

Jericho cbs
CBS pulled the plug on high-concept drama, Jericho after one season. Thanks to relentless campaigning from fans, it was revived for a second season. However, it was canceled after that.

6. The Tomorrow People – The CW

This show sucked for the first half of its first and only season. But just before the series concluded, it got good. There was a solid plot in there that was coming to fruition.

13 TV Characters That Really Need to Die

Some TV character do terrible things. Like, REALLY terrible things.

And these 13 are some of the worst on all of television.

That’s why the only satisfying conclusion for them involves them being six feet under.

Have a look below.

1. Alpha – The Walking Dead

Alpha arrives
Alpha is the show’s scariest villain to date, but she has killed multiple beloved characters, meaning that she has to go. Carol has to take her down in horrible fashion.

2. Jon Snow – Game of Thrones

Jons scratch
Game of Thrones may be over, but Jon had turned into a ridiculous character who became less significant in the final two seasons. He then killed the Mother of Dragons.

3. Nate – Euphoria

Nate euphoria
Where do we start with this loser? Nate catfished a girl at his school and then tried to accuse her of creating child pornography to keep her silent. That was just the tip of the iceberg.

4. Frank Gallagher – Shameless

Frank gallagher shameless
Frank is the most despicable character on all of television. He would rather get drunk and high on drugs than look after his children. He’s the worst.

5. Aunt Lydia – The Handmaid’s Tale

Aunt lydia the handmaids tale
Aunt Lydia whacks the handmaids as soon as they look at her the wrong way. Every single time there’s a semblance of a human there, she does something completely horrible to someone.

6. Negan – The Walking Dead

Negan laughs
Negan is a rapist, so forgive us for not buying the hero edit he’s been getting of late. He also killed some big fan-favorites. He needs to die.

15 TV Shows That Should Have Lasted One Season

TV shows don’t know when to quit.

When ratings are good, networks get greedy and keep shows on the air for longer than they should.

These 15 TV shows would have been the perfect example of a limited series.

However, they were dragged kicking and screaming into second seasons, and beyond.

1. Riverdale

Riverdale cast
This show had a tight mystery that was resolved at the close of its freshman season — but then things got completely and utterly ridiculous.

2. Revenge

Emily thorn slash amanda clarke revenge
Emily Thorne’s revenge plot lasted four seasons. There were some stupid plot twists along the way, and the show was never actually good after the first season. It would have been remembered as a solid show if it was a limited series.

3. 13 Reasons Why

Hannah on 13 reasons why
This controversial series was very much good TV in its first season. But then the storyline was dragged on for more seasons. The second focused on a trial and there was nothing to like about it.

4. Prison Break

Wentworth miller promo pic
For a show that focused on a prison break, it sure featured the same storyline over and over again. That’s because it got four seasons and even a limited-series revival.

5. Under the Dome

Under the dome photo
Under the Dome was a surprise success when it debuted. It lasted three seasons, even though it was only supposed to be a one-season thing. In the end, the destruction of the dome was hastily cobbled together because of how late in the game the series was given the pink slip.

Unreal cast photo
This exposé of The Bachelor-like series had an excellent first season, but it suffered from declining quality in subsequent seasons. It was primarily because beyond the dating series setting, there wasn’t much else going on of note.
