13 TV Spinoffs No One Asked For

The entertainment industry has no shame when it comes to scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas.

By the time many series are over, the fans are ready to move on.

Unfortuntately for these series, network execs were looking for a cash grab.

These 13 shows served little purpose, merely being made to cash in on the success of the original series.

That’s why many of these series struggled to pull in viewers.

1. 9-1-1 Lone Star – FOX

9 1 1 lone star
We struggle to take the original 9-1-1 seriously at the best of times, but this poorly acted and written spinoff is just asking to be put out of its misery.

2. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists – Freeform

Pretty little liars spinoff
The conclusion of Pretty Little Liars was unsatisfying. It was filled with plot holes, and viewers were tired of the franchise by the time the second spinoff arrived. Ratings were bad and it was swiftly canceled.

3. Fear the Walking Dead – AMC

The clark family on fear the walking dead
At the time Fear the Walking Dead was ordered, the parent series was stuck in a creative rut. The spinoff charted the time when the world went to crap. Unfortunately, the spinoff has largely failed to live up to the hype.

4. Legacies – The CW

Legacies the cw
Following the adventures of Hope Mikaelson, as well as twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, Legacies was supposed to follow the trio as they try to keep their powers in check. Hope’s powers were stifled for storytelling purposes, and the twins bickered at every turn. The series then tried to bring in players from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, ruining the legacy that came before the show.

5. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland – ABC

Ouatiw
ABC execs wanted to capitalize on the success of Once Upon a Time, so they tried out a spinoff about Alice in Wonderland. It was absurd.

6. Station 19 – ABC

Station 19 still
This Grey’s Anatomy spinoff is not good. Private Practice had a compelling arc, but Station 19 features some of the most unlikeable characters on the small screen.

These TV Shows are Totally Getting Canceled

It’s almost that time of year.

By that, we mean that time during which the networks make renewal or cancellation decisions.

Some of those decisions are headscratchers for sure, but most of the below shows have already been picked up for new seasons.

And yet… we’re worried about their long-term prospects.

Scroll down to find out what we mean:

1. Grey’s Anatomy – ABC

Greys anatomys fired doctors
Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for Season 17. But the show recently lost original star Justin Chambers, and there was no on-screen exit. Additionally, ABC has pushed the show to a later slot and is trying to force fans to watch Station 19, a horrible spinoff.

All of these things have resulted in lower than usual ratings, and that’s down to the fans who are unhappy with all the changes. Could the end of Grey’s really be near?

2. Prodigal Son – FOX

Prodigal son fox
This psychological thriller has scored a full-season order, but the ratings are not great. FOX cancels middle of the pack series all the time, so we’re not sure Prodigal Son is long for this world.

3. Manifest – NBC

Manifest nbc
Manifest was a roaring success for NBC last season, but after a long delay, Season 2 is down over 40%. Serialized dramas rarely regain lost viewers, and the continued erosion could mean the series will be another high-concept drama that ends without a conclusion.

4. The Resident – FOX

The resident season 1 cast
FOX moved The Resident from its post-911 Monday slot to Tuesdays. The ratings are down over 20%, and the show is now the network’s 10th highest-rated scripted series out of 15. That’s worrying.

5. Emergence – ABC

Emergence abc
This show started strong in the ratings but slumped to embarrassing levels by the conclusion. There’s a decent mystery in there, but ABC might cut the series short.

6. Almost Family – Fox

Almost family fox
This show never got good ratings out of The Masked Singer, so FOX responded by shunning it to Saturdays. Shows rarely survive that kind of move, meaning that it will probably not be back.

13 TV Turkeys to Avoid This Thanksgiving

More TV shows are on the air than ever. This is a fact.

As a result, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find the programs that are actually worth your time.

In honor of Thanksgiving, The Hollywood Gossip is here to tell you which shows you should NOT be watching.

That’s right, these are the biggest TV turkeys of 2019. They all suck so very, very hard.

1. Almost Family – FOX

Almost family fox
More like Almost Canceled! This freshman drama focuses on a fertility doctor who uses his own sperm to conceive at least 100 children throughout his career. As a result, the daughter he actually raised is shocked to find siblings knocking on her door. It’s an absurd concept.

2. Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club – MTV

Lindsay lohans beach club cast
Lindsay went through the motions of trying to remain relevant by implying she knew what she was doing by running a lucrative beach club. The series was tacky, and viewers did not connect with any of the cast members. It makes sense then that it was given the pink slip for being too boring.

3. Game of Thrones – HBO

Game of thrones finale photo
Game of Thrones was a casualty of its own success. After going on an extended hiatus between the penultimate and the final season, fans expected a thrilling conclusion. What they got was a shoddy six-episode wrap-up that wasn’t true to the characters or the stories that came before.

4. Carol’s Second Act – CBS

Carols second act cbs
Patricia Heaton is a great comedy actress, but the script for Carol’s Second Act is embarrassing. There are a grand total of zero laughs, and the series has been picked up for a full season. Sheesh.

5. Veronica Mars – Hulu

Veronica and keith veronica mars
Veronica Mars made a splashy return after years off the air, but the mystery was terrible. Even worse, the series obliterated what made fans tune in for in the first place. It makes sense then that Hulu has no plans to renew it.

6. 13 Reasons Why – Netflix

13 reasons why season 3 still
This Netflix original has never been the gold standard when it comes to storytelling, but the recently released third season was horrific. The entire season can be summed up in a few sentences. Don’t waste almost 13 hours on this turkey!
