As an actress, Cameron Diaz was likely used to seeing the impossible get turned into a reality.
At least in some sense, that is, due to special effects and all that.
But not even all that Diaz witnessed Jim Carrey go through in order to become The Mask could have prepared her for what she and husband Benji Madden are experiencing these days...
... parenthood.
For Diaz, at the age of 47.
As confirmed by the movie star and the musician earlier this year, the couple is now parents to a girl named Raddix.
Diaz and Madden confirmed this unexpected news shortly after the calendar flipped to 2020.
"We are so happy, blessed and grateful to being this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden," they said in a statement. "She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."
Concluded these stars at the time:
"While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one's privacy.
"So we won't be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD [smiley face emoticon]."
Cameron, for those wondering, what never pregnant. She and Madden welcomed their miracle baby through a surrogate.
Now, according to a new E! News report, we've learned that Diaz and Madden are settling in nicely at home with Raddix -- but remain in ecstatic shock.
"They are absolutely elated," this source tells E! News. "They wanted this for so long and so many years it's all very surreal.
The pair have chosen not to hire a nanny and are instead ticked away together inside their 2,000-square-foot home in L.A.'s Studio City neighborhood.
"Cameron isn't working. She's devoted to being a full-time mom," explains the insider.
"She feels she gave up a lot of time and valuable years working instead of being at home. Now is her time to be a mom and she is cherishing it. She has no plans to work at all."
Diaz, of course, hasn't starred in a studio film since 2014.
She's spent more the last five years trying to get pregnant and trying to make this family dream come true.
Prior to meeting Madden, the actress was on record as not really wanting kids... but then true love can change everything, you know?
"No one compares. Everything else just like washes and slips away," she once told Andy Cohen. "You realize like, 'Oh right, this is what the real thing is, this is what real love is and this is what commitment and devotion is.
"This is the person that you build your life with.'"
Along with stability came the desire to start a family.
"Cameron is so much more settled, stable and happy. It was natural to want a baby," a source recently told People.
As for how husband and wife are handling this adjustment?
They're sleeping less and are probably a whole lot messier... but they're also a whole lot happier.
"It's definitely an adjustment, but Cameron and Benji have had so many years of just being the two of them, they are welcoming this change," concludes the E! insider.
"It's all very new and exciting so they are just feeling grateful and blessed she is finally here."
