Jesse Palmer Replaces Kaitlyn Bristowe, Tayshia Adams as ABC Seeks "Chris Harrison Style" Host

ABC stunned the Bachelor Nation by selecting Jesse Palmer as a new host.

He seemed like a random name pulled out of a hat and a total blast from the past.

Reports say that co-hosts Kaitlyn and Tayshia were aware in advance that he, not they, would host Season 26.

Tayshia might return some day, but Kaitlyn confirms that she’s “not coming back” after being underpaid.

An inside source assured Us Weekly that Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams were both “part of the conversation” about the next host.

“Kaitlyn and Tayshia had a little bit of a heads up,” the insider shared.

The source emphasized that the pair “did not learn about them not returning as cohosts on the live [Bachelor] finale.”

That would have been an odd and potentially upsetting time to learn that Jesse Palmer would be taking their place.

The finale aired on Tuesday, March 15.

In addition to blindsiding them had they not been forewarned, the selection was reported on in the early autumn of 2021.

Some viewers, however, were surprised that 43-year-old Jesse would be hosting.

He confirmed the news, reported months ago, during the After The Final Rose special.

When it’s time for Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey to appear on Season 19 as co-Bachelorettes, he’ll be in front of the camera.

The source detailed that Jesse’s selection “wasn’t a surprise” for Kaitlyn and Tayshia.

The network reportedly knew that they both “needed to know in advance” for, among other things, “contractual reasons.”

For that reason, they were told about things some time “prior to the announcement.”

The insider expressed that they are both “rooting for Gabby and Rachel from afar.”

Chris may seem like a random selection to many, given that he appeared on Season 5 way back in 2004.

However, the network had its reasons.

“The decision came at some point throughout this past season that Jesse was a safe choice for the next Bachelorette season,” the source explained.

“They’re still testing him out for a more permanent role,” the insider characterized.

The source pointed out that this was “just like they tested out Tayshia and Kaitlyn for two seasons.”

According to the insider, ABC is actively “trying to get back to more of the Chris Harrison style” of hosting.

That may sound ominous to many of us, perhaps even cowardly.

But it’s possible that this source is simply referring to age in relation to most of the show’s leads. Maybe.

However, the insider added that the “doors aren’t closed for good” for Kaitlyn and Tayshia to return to the franchise in some capacity.

Tayshia, in particular, has maintained a “cordial relationship” with ABC.

As such, the source noted, “the bridge is not burned.”

“She’s been exploring a lot of different avenues and meeting with different people in the industry,” the insider said of Tayshia.

The source added: She’s looking to continue expanding her career outside of Bachelor Nation.”

Meanwhile, Kaitlyn has been “more outspoken” because of being given different titles — and pay — than Jesse.

Kaitlyn and Tayshia were listed as “special guests” on the show, while Jesse is getting the “host” title.

“The only resentment that seems to come out of it is their titles and contracts,” the insider said of Kaitlyn.

The source noted that it “all comes down to pay,” with the women (as is too often the case) making less than men with the same job.

Kaitlyn actually touched on this topic on her podcast, Off The Vine.

“I saw at the end of the finale, Jesse was announcing the two Bachelorettes, and he said he was going to be by their side for that,” she recalled this week.

“So, I guess spoiler alert,” Kaitlyn summarized, “I’m not coming back.”

Kaitlyn admitted to feeling a very natural degree of fear-of-missing-out, but noted that she had a “wild year” and could use the down time ahead of marrying Jason Tartick.

“I want to support Gabby and Rachel and be there for them so bad,” she expressed.

“I think it makes sense to have a woman being there for them,” Kaitlyn pointed out.

“But I also do want to prioritize being at home with Jason,” Kaitlyn acknowledged.

“And,” she added, “start planning my wedding and catch up on my businesses.”

Kailtyn decided to look on the bright side, viewing being sidelined as a “blessing in disguise.”

“I will be sad though,” Kaitlyn admitted. “I want to be there to support them, but that’s the update.”

“I think Jesse’s amazing,” she emphasized.

Kaitlyn praised: “He’ll be a great host and I hope he helps Gabby and Rachael in any way that he can.”

Tayshia Adams: Will She Be the Bachelorette Again After Zac Clark Split?

In December of last year, the Bachelor Nation watched Tayshia Adams become engaged to Zac Clark.

Ultimately, things did not work out. The pair broke up less than one year later.

Now, some fellow members of the Bachelor Fam are hoping that she will get another chance.

Could Tayshia be the Bachelorette again?

Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon are very familiar with finding love in the unique world of this franchise.

Speaking to Life & Style, they were quick to praise Tayshia as “so great.”

They, too, have heard the clamoring for Tayshia to get another bite at the apple by once again becoming the leading lady.

Even so, Ashley and Jared are aware that Tayshia is probably not eager to dive back into The Bachelorette.

Not as a leading lady, anyway.

“Well, Tayshia was definitely one of my very favorite Bachelorettes,” Ashley acknowledged.

“So I would love to see her back as a leading lady, like so, so much,” Tayshia admitted.

But wanting to see something happen is very different from expecting it.

“I don’t think she’s gonna do it,” Tayshia added.

“I mean, once you’ve been in the host role, I don’t know that you would go back,” she expressed.

Tayshia and Kaitlyn both already returned to the franchise, after a fashion.

After Chris Harrison’s tone deaf racism controversy early this year, the two became co-hosts to temporarily fill that hosting role.

But there’s a downside to that level of involvement, and it’s not just burnout.

Tayshia may have seen too much of the inner workings of production to really mesh with the illusion that the show seeks to provide.

“She also probably knows too much now,” Ashley speculated.

Tayshia is also now too much of a big shot, from a production standpoint, for the show to let her mingle again.

Ashley stated that Tayshia is “definitely not going to Paradise” now.

It would be a little weird to see a former host making out with and boning regular contestants.

Like Ashley, Jared would love to see Tayshia get a do-over on her season since Zac did not work out.

But he, too, understands why she might pass even if she’s offered the role.

“It’s all so tough,” Jared characterized.

“I mean, I hope she’s the Bachelorette ’cause I love her,” Jared said.

“She’s just so great,” he praised.

“But,” Jared admitted, “it’s also tough to be put back in that environment.”

“And then,” Jared continued, “like, what happens if it doesn’t work out again?”

“You know, it’s just,” he went on, “that sucks.”

It’s true that Tayshia’s first stab at the role was not ideal — coming in on the heels of Clare Crawley — but returning could still be complicated.

Tayshia found love with Zac just as Clare had found love with Dale, but it didn’t last forever … or even close to that.

“I guess that’s life, right?” Jared remarked.

“You go through different relationships and sometimes they work out and sometimes they don’t,” he said.

“Being the Bachelorette or not … I don’t know,” Jared continued.

“It’s just, that’s tough and to go through it once,” he explained.

“And then,” Jared went on, “you know, get engaged afterwards and then break up and then have to do it all over again, that’s tough.”

The Bachelorette Stars: Ranked By (Super Short) Relationship Length!

As predicted by The Bachelorette spoilers, this season’s leading lady, Michelle Young, did in fact find The One!

Of course … whether he’s The One for right now or just the won who became her first fiance remains to be seen.

Sounds harsh, we know. But it’s true.

A lot can happen in a few short months, let alone years. Remember how Katie and Blake Moynes broke up?

Yes, making love 30-46 times soon after they met was a great place to start, but real life quickly took its toll.

Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya are no Katie and Blake. We’re not saying that. But they are all too human.

Even in the best circumstances, it’s tough out there for a couple that meets in the bubble of Bachelor Nation.

This is a dating competition throwing people together under a pretense that is literally impossible to sustain.

Can they transition into a new normal? Grow together? Make it work? Sure, but often times, they fall short.

Which stars made their true love last?

Which ones fell in love so hard, yet flamed out so hilariously fast you can barely even call it a relationship?

And what about everyone in between?

Below, we’ve ranked the Bachelorettes based on who was most successful at finding love in her stint as queen.

See how they stack up from worst to first, and say a prayer that it works out for Michelle and Nate

1. Hannah Brown

Hannah brown picture
One of the most recent (and most notorious) Bachelorettes, Hannah Brown a.k.a. Hannah Beast a.k.a. Alabama Hannah a.k.a. Beast Mode, comes in first, or last, depending on your point of view. Hannah got engaged to Jed Wyatt on The Bachelorette, but that was over by the time we got to the After the Final Rose special, at which point she asked out runner-up Tyler Cameron. (That short-lived romance fizzled also.) On the plus side, she sets a very low bar for all who follow in her footsteps.

2. Jen Schefft

Jen schefft
Bachelorette Jen Schefft broke up with winner Jerry Ferris on the After the Rose special because she just “wasn’t feeling it.” Not even making it to the day after the finale? As we saw with Hannah Brown, if nothing else, Jen set very low expectations for everyone else to clear.

3. Katie Thurston

Katie thurston and blake moynes engaged
The train wreck that is Greg Grippo aside, Katie’s season was a hit, as Thurston ended up engaged to Blake Moynes. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, it was all over after a few months. It’s almost like not living in the same city or having any shared interests other than banging isn’t a recipe for lasting love.

4. Michelle Young

Nayte olukoya wins
Michelle Young, whose Bachelorette season just wrapped, literally could not have had a worse go of it than Hannah and Jen, or even Katie for that matter, unless she decides to peace TF out of her storybook romance with Nayte Olukoya within the next couple of weeks. We’re assuming Michelle outlasts not only Katie, but many more women on this list as well. Of course, only time will tell.

5. Emily Maynard

Emily maynard and tyler johnson
Emily Maynard and Jef Holm broke up just a few months after his proposal in 2012. He was never the right guy anyway. Should’ve picked Sean Lowe. Not that she or Sean (who is happily married to Catherine Giudici, who he met on The Bachelor) are overthinking it right now. Sean and Catherine are about as happy as a couple can be, while Emily has since married and had a bunch of kids with Tyler Johnson (pictured). Not the NHL player Tyler Johnson, but another good looking one to boot.

6. Andi Dorfman

Andi dorfman attends stylewatch x charming charlie launch event
Andi Dorfman found love with Josh Murray on The Bachelorette, a move that she seemed destined to make from the start despite a lot of red flags. The heart wants what it wants, we suppose … including ugly and prompt breakups. Their engagement ended after only six months or so.

Tayshia Adams: Colton is LYING About Fantasy Suites! WTF?!

So many aspects of Colton Underwood’s coming out story have been heartwarming and even inspiring.

There’s always a “but,” though, and we’re not just talking about stalking Cassie.

Colton’s story involves other people, and not everyone is happy about what he is saying about them.

Tayshia Adams says that Colton is lying about their Fantasy Suites night … but she’s not sure why.

On his Netflix docuseries, Colton Underwood recalled his time in seclusion with Tayshia Adams.

“Fantasy Suites in The Bachelor world is an overnight date,” he explained to anyone not familiar with the concept.

“And being labeled the virgin bachelor,” Colton detailed, “everybody was so interested if I would lose my virginity in the show.”

“People saw my date with Tayshia sitting there at dinner nervous,” Colton recalled.

“What people saw was like this blossoming relationship and what was about to be a huge step for me and for us,” he acknowledged.

“But in reality,” Colton said, “I didn’t want to go into the Fantasy Suite. I didn’t want to put Tayshia through that.”

“I knew I was attracted to men,” Colton shared, noting how he spent most of his life struggling against who he is.

“But I felt like if I lose my virginity in the Fantasy Suite,” he explained, “is it going to please me enough to keep me wanting to be straight.”

If that sounds like an unhealthy idea, it’s because it is. A homophobic society means that many tell themselves that they can make themselves straight.

“Crossing that line was such a big deal,” Colton admitted.

It mattered a lot to him “because it would force me one way or the other.”

“And,” Colton continued, “I didn’t know which way that was gonna be.”

Colton shared that he “felt so bad, even like for Tayshia.”

He said that he felt bad “because I remember that night, I slept in sweatpants and a sweatshirt.”

“It was like 78 degrees in the thing and I was like sweating,” Colton detailed.

“I just don’t want to give her the wrong impression,” Colton explained.

He praised Tayshia for being “so respectful and so nice and nurturing and great.”

He added that she was “totally, totally, very classy and awesome.”

Tayshia Adams spoke to Becca Kufrin on the latter’s Bachelor Happy Hour podcast about Colton’s comments.

“First of all, I think it’s extremely rude,” she admitted.

“Don’t make me seem like this pity case,” Tayshia expressed, “like he felt so bad for me.”

“Anyway, I’m not the only person he should be feeling bad for,” Tayshia continued.

She noted: “There’s other women that were trying to fall in love with you and really putting their hearts on the line.”

“So,” Tayshia reasoned, “if feel bad for me in that regard, then sure.”

“But, no. Colton Underwood did actually not sleep in sweats and a sweatshirt that night,” Tayshia announced.

“In case everybody that’s wondering,” she continued.

“This has been said multiple times. It’s been said in his book,” Tayshia noted. “it’s been said on television, it’s been said in his show apparently.”

“He actually slept in boxers that night,” Tayshia dished.

She explained: “because it was so hot in Portugal, the door was wide open.”

“And it was raining outside and we were trying to get air ventilation,” Tayshia described, “it was so hot and sticky.”

“So there’s actually no way he would have been in sweats and a sweatshirt,” Tayshia emphasized.

Becca openly wondered why Colton would allegedly “lie about that,” let alone repeatedly.

“I don’t know,” Tayshia admitted. “And honestly, it makes me so sad.”

“It’s just like, at the end of the day, we did have really good conversations,” Taysha reflected.

“And we ended on a good page,” she assessed.

“I don’t think there’s any ill will or nothing that happened for us to not even be friends,” she added.

“So for you to make up this elaborate story that you slept on the other side of the bed,” Tayshia remarked as if addressing Colton.

“You had to sleep with sweats and sweatshirt on,” she continued, “because you felt so bad and didn’t want me to think anything was going to happen.”

Tayshia expressed: “it’s just, I don’t know what you’re trying to cover and I don’t know why you’re dragging me down for something that’s not even true.”

“It’s absolutely not true,” Tayshia emphasized. “I have no reason to lie. Why the hell would I lie?”

It’s unclear why either of them would have any conscious desire to lie about this. Misremembering seems more likely.

Tayshia seems more credible on that count. Sharing a suite with Colton in his boxers sounds difficult to forget.
