It has come to this for Donald Trump:
With Michigan and Georgia both certifying their election results this week... with Rudy Giuliani leading a legal effort that looks like THIS and which keeps losing in court... and with many Republicans now acknowledging that Joe Biden won the 2020 election...
... the President is turning to an actor who once banged his Rupert Murdoch-mask-wearing wife.
Seriously, that was a thing that happened in this world.
On November 20, Randy Quaid Tweeted the following:
We’ve lost confidence in the system that elects our leaders. 79 million Americans believe election was rigged, the results fraudulent.
We need an in-person-only-paper ballot re-vote, especially in the States where flagrant irregularities have occurred.
No accuracy, no democracy!
As you can see below, Trump is all for this argument, asking on social media: Are you listening Republicans?
Now, there are a few things wrong here that we feel a need to point out:
- 79 milliion did not vote for Donald Trump in this election.
- Of those who did vote for Trump, according to Reuters, 52% of them think the President "rightfully" won the election.
- There has not been a shred of evidence to back up any claims of "flagrant irregularities."
- Republicans, who Trump is pushing to heed the advice of Randy Quaid, do not control elections in America.
Oh, and did we also mention that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election with no fewer than 306 electoral votes?
This is the exact figure Trump himself won by in 2016 - and has said on many occasions represents a "landslide" victory.
For the record:
Biden is ahead by 154,000 votes in Michigan, greater than Trump’s 10,000-vote winning margin there in 2016.
He’s ahead by 81,000 votes in Pennsylvania, nearly twice Trump’s 44,000-vote win there four years ago.
He’s ahead by more than 20,000 votes in Wisconsin, almost the same as Trump’s 23,000-vote victory there in 2016.
On top of those leads, Biden also flipped the traditionally GOP-leanings states of Arizona and Georgia.
In other words?
No matter what nonsense Trump rambles on about over Twitter and, yes, no matter what Randy Quaid has to say, this was not even a remarkably close Presidential Election.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as President and Vice President, respectively, on January 20, 2021.
Someone please inform Donnie. And Randy.
On some level, he must realize it. Monday evening, before joining Quaid's re-vote bandwagon, Trump even told the General Services Administration that it needs to bring Biden into the fold.
That is, Trump himself has greenlit the independent agency - that helps manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies - to initiate transition protocol.
Biden will now be treated and recognized as the official President-Elect, whether Don wants to concede or take credit for this or not.
