When it comes to some ugly rumors circulating about him in the tabloids right now, Justin Timberlake is not crying anyone a river.
But he is issuing an apology to a very special someone.
As you very likely know by now, Timberlake made headlines for all the wrong reasons late last month when he was spotted acting very wasted in New Orleans with Alisha Wainwright.
Based on witness accounts and actual photos from the night, Timberlake held Wainwright's hand, touched her leg and acted way too cozy with her.
Considering he's married to Jessica Biel and the couple has a son together and everything.
As you can see below, The Sun was the first outlet to publish these pictures and report on this scandal.
"They were smiling and laughing," an onlooker told The Sun at the time, adding of Timberlake and his co-star in the upcoming film Palmer:
"At one stage he grabbed her hand and rested it on his knee. She then gently started stroking his leg. Then he clutched her hand with both of his and was playing with her hands."
Doesn't sound remotely good, does it?
Days after a rep for Wainwright denied any real hanky panky between his client and the singer, however, Timberlake himself has now come out with a statement.
“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love," opens this message, continuing:
A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior.
I should have known better.
Concluded the wildly popular artist:
This is not the example I want to set for my son.
I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be.
This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.
Timberlake and Biel got married in Italy in 2012 and share four-year old son Silas.
Chatter of marital problems between the celebrities started in earnest about a year ago, following an extended honeymood period during which they seemed as content as any couple in Hollywood.
Just this past June, Timberlake gushed and gushed about his famous wife while delivering a speech at the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in New York City.
“To my wife, who is here tonight and who has given me the greatest gift of love,” JT said, adding at the time:
"Our son is 4 now, and he’s dope too!
"I’ve written so many songs because of that that I’m so proud of and I just ... I’m extremely humbled. I hope that I can represent this award for all of you."
For her part, Biel has not yet commented on this controversy.
However, multiple insiders do back up Timberlake's account, as somewhat damning to him as it remains.
"Several cast members were there and it was just a cast gathering,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly on November 24 of the infamous evening in New Orelans, concluding:
“Nothing remotely romantic is going on with Justin and Alisha. The whole cast is shooting out there and like to hang out together.
"They were very much in public and nothing inappropriate was happening."
