Back in July, Kailyn Lowry welcomed her fourth child, a boy named Creed.
It was a joyous occasion, and Kail and her other three sons are clearly thrilled by the new addition to their family.
But there was a time when Kail was not so overjoyed by the prospect of welcoming another child with Chris Lopez.
And we got to witness her initial reaction to the news on Tuesday night's episode of Teen Mom 2.
It all began with a scene in which Kail's boys made an attempt to sort out the details of her love life.
“Why do I not have a stepdad? ”asked Lincoln, Kail's son by her ex-husband Javi Marroquin.
“I don’t really have an answer for you, to be perfectly honest. OK?” Kail replied.
“When I was born, you liked my dad, right? Then they didn’t like each other anymore so then they broke up and she found your dad and then they got divorced after you were born. And that’s how he became my stepdad, but then when they got divorced, he wasn’t my stepdad anymore, right?” Isaac, Kail's oldest son, attempted to explain.
“But then she found Chris and didn’t marry him.” Lincoln pointed out, “Not yet, because the wedding’s not starting yet!”
“Well, they broke up …” Isaac glumly observed.
“I thought you said you loved Chris?” Lincoln asked his mom.
“I do,” Kailyn replied, beginning to show signs of emotional strain.
“Well, they’re just taking time away from each other for a little while," Isaac explained to his brother.
At that point, the show cut to a confessional segment in which Kail revealed that the situation was even more complicated than her highly astute sons had realized.
"I don't feel like I'm being a good mom," she said.
"I think I let certain people into my life knowing that they were toxic and I ignored a lot of red flags and I think I let them stay too long to the point where I lost myself."
It was then that Lowry revealed that Lopez's aunt had shared her ultrasound on social media.
"I was still dealing with my private issue ... except now, it's not private anymore," she explained in a voiceover.
"Chris' aunt decided to post a photo of my ultrasound on social media, which obviously went viral. I haven't said anything publicly about it."
"I'm pregnant," she then confirmed.
"I have not talked to Chris. I don't talk to him. He has been in and out of jail."
This was around the time that Lowry filed for a restraining order against Lopez, and she went on to confirm that the relationship between them was highly complex, to say the least.
"I think what has transpired over the last few months between Chris and I has just been so eye opening," Kail stated.
"I know people have a ton of questions and they're wondering how I could have gone back to someone like that and I think there's a lot to be said that I haven't really talked about in a relationship where domestic violence is there and where it's really toxic," she continued.
"I'm still trying to figure that stuff out."
Later, Lowry would publicly declare that she did not want Lopez in the delivery room.
At the time the episode was filmed, she didn't want him involved in any aspect of the pregnancy.
"As of right now, I have no intentions of including Chris in anything. Going into this one knowing he won't be there at all is really scary," she said.
This is a moment that fans have been waiting for all season, and it couldn't have been much more emotional.
As for the current situation between Kail and Chris ... well, sadly, it seems it hasn't improved much.
"I haven't talked to Chris in awhile, so he hasn't seen Creed in a while," Lowry told TooFab not long after Creed's birth.
"But, you know, there's always room to improve that so hopefully it improves," she added.
"I'm hoping that it will get better with time but I don't have a big vision," Lowry continued.
"I don't have anything negative to say. I hope for our kids that everything works itself out in whatever direction that may be."
For the sake of Kail and her four boys, we hope Chris gets his act together, as well.
