“Jeffrey Baena was separated from his wife [redacted] since September 2024,” a report released by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner states.
Plaza’s Sunday appearance marked the first she’s been seen since Baena’s death by suicide on Jan. 3. He was 47.
The filmmaker mentioned them by name after winning the accolade for best director Sunday night.
The late director’s 2020 film, “Horse Girl” — starring Alison Brie — was inspired by their respective experiences with mental illness.
Plaza said she was “so proud” of Baena in what seems to be her first and only Instagram post with the filmmaker before his death.
