The post RHONJ Star Melissa Gorga: ‘I Don’t Feel Guilty’ About Scrapping Friendship With Teresa Giudice! appeared first on Perez Hilton.
The family confrontation on the RHONJ Season 12 Reunion was so heated that Andy Cohen had to make Teresa apologize.
Teresa’s insults towards Joe Gorga left their mark, causing him to storm off of the stage.
What’s more is that Joe declared that he “quit” the show, clearly being tired of the endless drama.
But after all of the apologies and coaxing, did he change his mind? Have we really seen the last of Joe?
Jennifer Aydin had called Joe Gorga a “bitch boy.”
She and Teresa Giudice both went after him, attacking his masculinity with demeaning insults.
Why? Because he defends his wife. They don’t like him, so they weaponize toxic masculinity to try to shame him for being a good husband.
The implications go beyond Joe, implying that any of the men on the show — on any of the shows — who participate are somehow “less” manly.
It’s a twisted implication, and based upon antiquated and extremely unhealthy ideas about gender that haven’t been mainstream in generations.
Joe corrected Jennifer, telling her that putting his wife on a pedestal is part of what makes him a good man.
Jennifer repeatedly calling Joe a “bitch boy” was bad enough, but it was Teresa that really set him off.
“I’m done. F–k you people,” Joe declared. “You know what? I quit.”
He stormed backstage, and only when Andy demanded that Teresa go make nice with him did she try — sort of — to smooth things over.
Since the Reunion, Joe has explained how insulting he found Teresa’s hypocrisy to be.
Luis Ruelas has, after all, been a hot topic and engaged in numerous on-screen conversations.
“But he’s not a bitch for doing this on national TV?” Joe asked on a recent podcast interview with his wife.
But Teresa has defended herself as well, claiming that she was merely answering questions.
On screen and off screen, she has been adamant that she did not insult or put down her brother.
But, as Andy pointed out backstage, Teresa doesn’t get to tell Joe when he’s been insulted.
Joe actually “quit” much earlier this season after a miserable confrontation with his niece, Gia.
While some extremely weird people thought that it was inappropriate for Gia to stand up to Joe (because of their age or because they were relatives — that was never clear), they came to a decent resolution.
However, Joe was so rattled by how hurt Gia had felt by what he’d said about her father that he quit filming the show for a few weeks.
That said, there are no indications right now that Joe has quit the show for good this time.
There are also no indications that he will return for Season 13.
If he quit, what would that mean for Melissa? For Teresa? Joe could be the first domino in a major casting shakeup … or maybe he just needs time to cool off.
A casting shakeup seems unlikely, however, because this particular show did not suffer the same way that a few of the others in the franchise did in recent years.
In New York and in Orange County, a combination of bad luck and the COVID-19 pandemic sent ratings down — because the public places are so essential to the show’s character.
One of the advantages to filming in New Jersey, one might joke, is that you know that viewers are there for the cast, not the backdrop.
Last week, on Part 1 of the The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 12 Reunion, Teresa Giudice insulted her brother.
She repeatedly demeaned Joe Gorga until he stormed off of the stage, declaring that he was quitting.
On Part 2, in the immediate aftermath of that, Andy Cohen all but ordered Teresa to go make nice with Joe.
She didn’t exactly do a great job on her own, so Andy stepped in again.
Perhaps some people would like to be called a “bitch boy” who is “like a Housewife” for getting involved with ongoing drama.
Joe Gorga is not one of them.
Despite Teresa’s claim that she was “not putting him down,” no one else actually believed that.
“Well, you did just put him down,” Andy countered.
He told Teresa: “You’re demeaning him by saying, ‘What are you even doing here? You’re in the women’s drama.'”
Andy then all but ordered Teresa to make things right before Andy and the show — and Teresa herself — lose Joe forever.
“He’s my baby brother, I’ve always kissed his ass. This is why he’s used to it,” Teresa claimed.
“Okay, good,” Andy replied. “Well, go kiss his ass some more.”
Teresa followed Joe backstage, but the two did not agree — with Teresa insisting upon a double standard where Luis Ruelas is free to speak but Joe is not.
“That’s not the same!” Teresa loudly asserted. “He’s gotta f–king defend himself.”
Joe then very fairly asked: “But why is he doing that? For you, right? So then, he’s a bitch.”
At this point, Teresa got on one of her favorite topics: Margaret.
Teresa suggested that she wouldn’t be insulting and demeaning Joe like this if he would tell Margaret to “shut the f–k up.”
This was going nowhere. Teresa was doing everything but “kissing ass.”
Thankfully, Andy arrived backstage, having heard the screaming.
“We want him to be here,” Andy reminded Teresa after she repeatedly attacked her brother’s masculinity.
“You all have been living your lives on television, this family for years,” he noted.
“And,” Andy told her, “we’re trying to get some resolution here, believe it or not.”
Joe then reminded Teresa of what he had been advising all along, informed by both common sense and his many years of experience on reality television.
Simply put, if Luis would just talk about the allegations directly — with Margaret giving him a great excuse to do so — the chatter would die down.
Just like with Denise Richards on RHOBH and countless other examples, the refusal to talk about a topic becomes a bigger story than the initial scandal.
Andy chimed in, reminding Teresa that Luis appearing on the show and dating Teresa meant that this would be discussed no matter what.
Even if Margaret had never breathed one word about Luis, it would be Andy’s job to ask all of this now anyway.
Joe and Teresa finally began to hash things out … but Teresa’s insistence that she hadn’t insulted Joe made Andy snap.
“He’s telling you how he feels,” Andy pointed out, “so you should listen!”
The two did make peace, with Joe telling Teresa that he wants a relationship, but reminding her that “you’ve said some nasty things tonight.”
Teresa even offered an apology. If only this sort of peace could last.
Even Teresa Giudice appears to think she’s gone too far.
On Friday, in the face of ongoing criticism over the way she’s acted on air and some of the stuff she’s said to brother Joe Gorga in particular… the veteran Bravo personality issued an apol…
All season long, Teresa Giudice has not been a happy camper.
Sure, she loves Luis, but she is mad at her brother Joe, she’s furious with Margaret, and she seems sort of “over” a lot of what goes with the show.
There are a few solutions to that, one of which being just having a better attitude.
But Melissa has another suggestion: if Teresa is so tired of being a Real Housewife, why not just quit RHONJ?
Melissa Gorga tuned in to The Wendy Williams Show to chat with the not-so-titular host Michael Rapaport.
There was a lot to discuss, from Andy Cohen throwing a mini-tantrump as the ladies yelled over each other to Joe Gorga storming off stage.
On a very personal note for Melissa, Teresa had expanded her wedding party to include almost everyone imaginable … except Melissa.
“I’ve never seen Andy react this way,” Melissa admitted. “He was so annoyed.”
She explained: “Everyone was really over-talking one another, he couldn’t get a word in edgewise and he just lost it.”
Understandable. Honestly, it’s surprising that he is as patient as he is with these often unruly casts.
Melissa also spoke about Joe having stormed off of the set, sharing that Andy was very affirming and chased after him.
“He was very, very insulted,” she acknowledged. “He is not there cuz he wants to all the time.”
Melissa added: “I think people get that misconstrued, that he’s just there because he wants to hang with the girls. Joe is an actual cast member on the show.”
As for the main event, all season long, we’ve seen Teresa freak out and turn livid over people trying to “pop” her “love bubble.”
In other words, just asking questions.
As was pointed out during the season, how are her castmates supposed to “just get to know” Luis, as she asked, without asking him anything?
Melissa diplomatically stated in her interview that Luis “says all the right things.”
That can be praise or shade.
“He seems like he’s into it. He’s in love with her,” Melissa said. “They seem like they’re very happy together so I wish them the best.”
All of those well wishes are fine, but Melissa confirmed that things are awkward.
Margeret, with whom Melissa is closest of all of the cast, is “still not on speaking terms” with Teresa, even months after the “rough” Reunion.
“I think Margaret was asking a lot of questions,” Melissa noted. “Obviously, Teresa hates that.”
“But they were valid questions… You’re on a reality show,” Melissa explained.
“Whatever’s going on on the web and on the internet and in the press, we’re going to ask you about,” she reasoned.
Melissa acknowledged: “We all have to discuss anything that goes on.”
“I do think that she’s come to a point where she doesn’t enjoy it anymore,” Melissa observed of her sister-in-law.
“And it’s very obvious that she doesn’t enjoy it,” she added.
Melissa pointed out: “She doesn’t want to do a lot of the activities that we do.”
“She didn’t want to sing with us. She didn’t want to climb the trees with us,” Melissa listed.
“She kind of rolls her eyes to everything,” she characterized.
Melissa concluded: “So I think that if it is making her unhappy and she has a guy who’s financially stable and they want to be happy, then she should do that. Why do this if you don’t need to?”
Even though Teresa Giudice is never leaving RHONJ, her brother cannot say the same.
At the Reunion special, Joe and Tre got into such a heated conflict that Joe stormed off.
Even before that, things were nasty, with Teresa cruelly dismissing Melissa.
At one point, she skewered her brother, scolding him for getting “involved with girl s–t.”
There were times when Melissa Gorga acted as an extra parent to her four nieces when Teresa and Joe Giudice were having their “legal issues.”
But to hear Tre tell it, she and Melissa are “not that close.”
That animosity still pales beside how Teresa spoke about her own flesh and blood, however.
“He’s a little too much involved, that’s all I’m saying,” Teresa said of Joe Gorga.
There was a strange undercurrent to this too that perhaps you can perceive in the clip — a hint of toxic masculinity, even.
It really feels like Teresa is accusing Joe of being a catty bish, so to speak, simply for engaging in conversations with and about the women in his family.
Teresa insisted that she wasn’t singling out Joe, claiming that she would even tell her precious fiance Luis to “cool it” if he did the same.
Given that Tre has been acting anyone asking Luis a simple question as an act of war, that’s hard to believe.
However, her insistence that Joe butt out — when it’s his real life and also his reality TV job — took people aback, including Andy Cohen.
The charming Reunion host came to Joe’s immediate defense.
“I love it that he’s involved and we invited him here,” Andy reminded her.
“That’s fine,” Teresa said insincerely, before jabbing: “It’s called ‘The Housewives.’”
Kind of weird to hear an it’s called the Housewives argument from a woman who, like many in the franchise, is not currently an any-kind-of-wife.
Joe called out his sister: “That’s how you put me down. It’s terrible.”
Andy also reminded Teresa that her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, also appeared on multiple Reunions back in the day.
“With all the rest of the men,” Teresa argued, “and Joe Giudice would not get involved with girl s–t.”
She added: “Sorry, he wouldn’t get involved.”
Is Teresa trying to, what, gatekeep reality TV drama along gender lines? We know that she’s a little nuts, but that’s super weird.
Joe also called out Jennifer Aydin for referring to him as a “little bitch girl” for the same thing.
He referred to Jennifer as Tre’s “f–king friend,” prompting an angry and outraged response from her.
“I didn’t say anything about you. I’m trying to apologize!” Jennifer fired back.
Then, of course, Jennifer doubled down, echoing Teresa’s words — as is her nature.
“You’re the one who keeps saying s–t to me,” she told Joe. “And a real man wouldn’t keep saying s–t to me.”
Jennifer added: “I keep telling you I’m trying to apologize.”
Joe then warned Teresa: “I’m going to call Louie a bitch boy when he comes out.”
Unconvincingly, she acted like that would be no big deal, quipping: “I love my bitch boy.”
Later, Tre tried to pretend that the intentional insult is “not a bad thing.”
Joe was truly fed up, storming off of the Reunion stage after repeated verbal attacks from his own sister and her crony.
“As a matter of fact, I quit. I’m done. I quit. I don’t give a s–t,” he declared.
“I quit. Thank you very much, thank you Bravo,” Joe added. “Listen, 12 years, I love you. I love you. I’m done.”
But Joe had much less gracious words for the titular Housewives.
“F–k you, people,” Joe told the cast, especially Teresa.
“You know what?” he asked his sister. “Be a sister once in a while, you f–king moron.”
