Kotb stunned fans when she announced that she would be leaving the NBC family after 26 years in an emotional message on the “Today” show Thursday.
Kotb clarified that while she feels she is making “the right decision,” leaving the “longest love affair of [her] professional life” is “painful.”
“I would go to the Cheesecake Factory, Cracker Barrel, and Red Lobster for a first date,” she told Page Six. “I don’t care if paparazzi catches me walking in.”
On Tuesday’s episode of “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” the co-hosts were shown a clip from a game that Seth Meyers plays on his show called “Truth or Drink.”
“My whole family is here!” Kotb gushed on “Today with Hoda and Jenna” Wednesday.
The “Today” show co-anchor’s 3-year-old was hospitalized in February, forcing the TV host to take a two-week leave of absence from the morning program.
Ahead of her Oscar win on Sunday, the “Everything Everywhere All at Once” actress sent the “Today” show host “beautiful” gifts for her two girls.
The “Today” show first addressed Kotb’s absence from both of her usual slots on the “Today” show and “Today With Hoda and Jenna” on Wednesday morning.
The news comes amid fans expressing their concern for Kotb as she hasn’t co-hosted the “Today” show or “Today With Hoda and Jenna” since Feb. 17.
