Hannah Gosselin: My Mom Sucks, But at Least I Have My Dad!

When Hannah Gosselin was a young teenager, she was finally old enough to choose which parent should have custody.

Hannah chose her dad. At the time, Kate Gosselin reportedly raged over her daughter’s autonomy.

Now, this independent-minded sextuplet is weeks away from adulthood … but relationships with some of her siblings are strained.

She retains a close bond with her dad, though. Coming to live with him was a relief after years in Kate’s grasp.

An inside source spoke to In Touch Weekly about where things stand between Hannah and Jon Gosselin.

According to the insider, they “are so close” as the high schooler prepares for adulthood and, not long after, college.

In contrast, the source characterized, Kate was “not an easy personality at all.”

But this report does more than just tell us what we already know about what Kate is really like or how lucky Hannah is that she was able to wriggle free of her.

Because, the insider makes clear, Jon is more than just the lesser of two evils.

“They are really good friends,” the source says of the father and daughter.

“They are hilarious with one another,” the insider detailed.

“So basically, the best way to describe Hannah is she’s a completely free spirit,” the source furnished.

This obviously brought her into conflict with her toxic nightmare of a mother.

“And living in the house with Kate,” the insider pointed out, was not a good fit for her.

The source explained how it was Kate “who had endless rules.”

The insider listed that “there were cameras in the house, the kids had their cell phones controlled.”

“It was a very controlling situation,” the source summarized.

“Hannah is going to be doing a lot of her own stuff,” the insider noted.

It sounds like she is really looking forward to “turning 18 when she’s finally able to” to make fully independent, adult decisions.

The problems with Kate’s style of parenting are obvious.

Even if we for some reason didn’t care about the allegations of abuse, a controlling environment is bad for developing minds.

In addition to the emotional toll, it can also make people struggle to make their own decisions as adults.

That is, of course, to say nothing of the moral horror of raising children to be obedient, precisely molded prisoners instead of, you know, people.

Children are people, and it’s a parent’s job to nurture, protect, and guide them.

That everything about Kate broadcasts the idea that she cannot differentiate that from near-absolute control … well, it says a lot about her.

Hannah got away. Collin got away. To say that either got away unscathed is probably naive at best.

It can take years of therapy to overcome the lingering effects of having a bad parent, and even Hannah and Collin may need to unlearn things if either of them ever want to have kids.

As for the six who remained loyal to Kate … well, it could take a lot more time and therapy to process what was behind that.

Why did some kids remain with Kate? Why would some of Hannah’s own siblings have a strained relationship with her after she walked away?

It’s complicated, but there are a whole lot of survival mechanisms and other factors that sometimes make kids cling to the worst parent and reject the somewhat better one.

Maybe, in time, Hannah can reforge tattered bonds with her siblings, but not every broken family can be repaired.

Kate Gosselin RAGED When Hannah Left Home, Sabotaged Sibling Bonds [Report]

While Kate Gosselin’s life kinda sucks now, things are going well for Hannah Gosselin.

Hannah is just about a month shy of turning 18. She’s about to be an adult.

Even before this milestone, she has experienced years of relative normality and freedom after choosing to live with her dad.

It’s no surprise to anyone that reports say that Kate was “beyond furious” when Hannah escaped her grasp.

An inside source tells In Touch Weekly about how Kate Gosselin felt when Hannah “could choose” who had custody of her.

According to the insider, the notorious reality star was “irate, like beyond furious” that Hannah was old enough to make that decision.

Hannah considered her options and went to live with her father, Jon Gosselin, where they were soon joined by her brother, Collin.

“Kate absolutely adored Hannah,” the source claimed, “and wanted her to stay with her.”

The insider generously continued: “But Hannah just felt that it was not the right atmosphere for her.”

The source noted that Hannah made this choice “even though she absolutely loves her brothers and sisters.”

It couldn’t have been easy for Hannah to leave behind Leah, Alexis, Joel, or Aaden.

In addition to those four sextuplets, she was also leaving a house still shared with twins Mady and Cara, who are now in their early 20s.

The insider affirmed that stepping away from them was “very difficult for” Hannah.

Hannah, who by-the-way is starting her own business at just 17, made the choice anyway.

The source explained that she “felt living with her father was definitely the right decision.”

Of course, at the time, it might have been difficult to predict the deliberate fallout that arose.

A previous report by Us Weekly confirmed that Kate “definitely spent a lot of time making sure the kids don’t spend time together.”

That insider acknowledged that Hannah understandably “doesn’t really speak to her mom much.”

Instead, the source explained, “She’s focused on high school and getting into college.”

Hannah “would love to spend time” with the other six, the insider noted.

However, the source lamented that this “just hasn’t been possible.”

“They live in North Carolina [with mom Kate Gosselin],” the insider explained, “and she lives with her dad [and brother Collin] in Pennsylvania.”

“It is sad,” the source acknowledged.

“She does hope that at one point she can see her brothers and sisters,” the insider expressed.

The source noted: “They were all very, very close.”

“And,” the insider emphasized, “her leaving to go live with Jon had absolutely nothing to do with her brothers and sisters.”

The source characterized: “She loves them to death.”

Meanwhile, her father has recently been gushing to anyone who will listen about how excited he is for Hannah to go off to college so very soon.

The sad fact of the matter is that contentious divorces often drive a wedge in families beyond the separation of spouses.

It’s not as simple as the children seeming to “root for different teams,” though it can look like that on the surface.

A lot of complicated survival instincts and other factors can make kids gravitate towards, for example, a more toxic parent — and lash out at siblings who don’t.

Sometimes, these fractured bonds can be repaired in adulthood — especially if all of the children involved go to therapy.

At the same time, when people stop having shared experiences in their early teens and then spend many years as virtual strangers, they can grow apart beyond repair.

We wish Hannah and her siblings all of the best. And we definitely recommend therapy for anyone who has Kate for a mother.

Jon Gosselin: I’m Afraid My Kids Will Blow Their TV Fortunes!

Even though Jon Gosselin has been waxing nostalgic lately, he is also looking to the future.

While the twins are already young adults, the sextuplets are 17 … but will be 18 this May.

At that time, all six of them will gain access to money earned during their lifelong reality TV careers.

Jon knows how easily people can blow through that kind of windfall, and is taking steps to protect Hannah and Collin from that mistake.

On May 10 of 2022, the Gosselin sextuplets will be legal adults.

The 18-year-olds will then inherit their reality TV money.

Jon knows the horror stories of stars of both scripted and reality television who lost everything, and doesn’t want that for his kids.

Of course, Jon does not have custody of all six of the sextuplets.

Hannah and Collin, however, have been with him for years — ever since they were old enough to have input in their own custody.

Being free from Kate’s clutches also means that they’re under Jon’s guidance.

As such, Jon has opted to enroll his two 17-year-olds in finance classes.

It is his hope that this will help them to manage this money — earned from a show that ran for 11 seasons.

The Gosselin kids will receive 25% at age 18, 25% at 21, 25% at 25, and 25% at 30.

This gradual delivery system of the money more or less guarantees that none of the kids will be destitute for life just because of a mistake at 19.

But, in theory, any one of them could blow whatever their payday at 18 turns out to be, either by spending big or investing in a crypto pyramid scheme.

Despite the inherent immorality of child stardom, very few people have this kind of financial opportunity, and Jon wants to give Collin and Hannah their best chance.

An inside source explained to The Sun: “Jon has no control over the other kids.”

“And,” the insider explained, Jon “is worried whether they will use the money wisely.”

Financial literacy is seldom taught in school, and a windfall can be hard to manage for a teenager.

“He is hoping they will use the money for schooling,” the source detailed.

“But at this point,” the insider stated, “he has no control.”

The source added: “He just wants the best for them.”

“Jon was so concerned about the kids he has custody of,” the insider emphasized.

This, the source explained, is why “he had them take finance classes to prepare.”

The insider revealed: “And luckily they both got As.”

We all know the stories of child stars and even people who became celebrities as adults who spent massive fortunes in a short time.

From Aaron Carter to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, no amount of fame equals automatic wealth for life.

We don’t even know how much they’re going to be getting, but while they deserve to reap the rewards of the otherwise raw deal life handed to them, the Gosselin kids deserve long-term financial security.

Jon Gosselin Shares Bittersweet Throwback Video of Kate, Kids

These days, things are tense at best for the Gosselin family.

Jon Gosselin is going to court over custody issues, an added complication to an already fractured family.

However, he marked a very special Throwback Thursday this week with an astonishing throwback clip from a dozen years in the past.

In addition to showing the eight children when they were very young, it also showed the bitter exes when things were arguably happier.

“You look up and it’s 12 years later,” Jon Gosselin captioned the grainy throwback video.

The video was a relatively short clip of ABC footage featuring their family.

Jon added the tags: “#wow #wheredoesthetimego #timeflies.”

Many of us find it very relatable how he marvels at the passage of time.

It’s one thing to think “2010 was 12 years ago” and quite another to understand that “someone born in 2000 is old enough to drink.”

But for Jon, this is more personal, because he is appreciating — on a bittersweet note — how much his children have grown.

Speaking of people born in 2000, Cara and Mady were born in October of that year.

Four years later, their medium-sized family exploded into a supersized sideshow with the birth of their sextuplets.

Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden, and Collin were born in May of 2004.

In the throwback clip, Jon speaks lovingly about his children.

Some of his descriptions of the children and their respective personalities aren’t just accurate — they’re downright prescient.

It’s remarkable how wildly consistent the Gosselin children’s personalities have been, even going back this far.

“Cara, she’s the oldest. Very quiet but she’s super athletic,” Jon raved about one daughter.

Notably, this is the very same daughter who has since gone on to participate in college athletics.

Similarly, if a person had been burdened with the knowledge of what TikTok is all of those years ago, they could have guessed which twin would perform well on the cursed app.

“Mady is the polar opposite of Cara,” Jon described in the ancient clip.

“Artsy, music, singing, dance, drama,” he listed.

Like we said, Mady has maintained this spark into adulthood.

Jon listed his daughter Alexis as “the first-born of the six.”

He characterized her as “wild and crazy.”

Meanwhile, little Hannah was described as being “very mothering.”

Jon praised his son Aaden as having “probably the biggest fan club on the planet.”

Collin was described as “the engineer of the bunch.”

Jon described his son as being both “meticulous and organized.”

Leah earned the description of being both “cute and cunning” by Jon’s estimation.

Joel, the last of the sextuplets to be born, was simply characterized as “very complimenting.”

Jon noted that Joel would praise people, even adults, in a polite and very mature way.

Jon has had custody of Hannah and Collin since 2018.

The two of them were finally at an age at which they are considered old enough by family courts to have input in their own custody situation.

Hannah went with her dad right away. Collin took longer, in part because Kate had shipped him off to an institution.

As for the rest of them, however, things are pretty bittersweet.

Jon has not been able to speak to his twins in years.

It’s not for lack of trying on his part. Cara and Mady are not interested in a relationship with their dad. Neither are the other four sextuplets.

It’s a complicated situation, because Jon is certainly a flawed man and father.

Sometimes people are mistaken for being “Team Jon” simply for describing Kate as the toxic nightmare that she is. It’s not quite the same thing.

At the end of the day, all of us — except for Kate herself — just want what’s best for the eight Gosselin kids.
