For years, Angela Deem has been such a controversial fixture on 90 Day Fiance that toxic behavior gets compared to Angela season after season.
While the status of Angela and Michael has been a hot topic lately, some of Angela’s fans (she does have them) have a different focus.
Angela seems to be unwell. No, we’re not talking about her behavior, but her health.
One alarming video has her followers wondering if she’s getting worse, not better.
Angela Deem shared a TikTok video recently, and then crossposted that clip to her Instagram page.
In the recording, the grandmother is in a dimly lit room — and appears to be home in her own bed.
Wearing her hair down, she moves her head while looking into the camera.
“Saturday just laying around,” she wrote across the video.
“Love you queens,” she added.
In the video, Angela was attempting to lip-sync to “Burned Like a Rocket” by Billy Joe Royal.
Angela captioned the video: “Exhausted from my trip from LA BABY.”
While “LA BABY” may sound like the name of a rapper, she is certainly referring to Los Angeles.
It is not jet lag, however, that has people concerned about the video.
Angela’s face has changed a great deal.
Her life and her habits, particularly smoking, clearly took their toll years ago, which is why many were astonished to learn that she is only in her fifties.
Since undergoing her surgical weight loss journey, Angela’s face has also changed in several ways, and some of those changes have aged her while other make her look younger.
However … this time, the concern is about her lower lip, and if you watched the video that we included, you probably noticed it yourself.
There is a very visible dark mark on her lower lip — one that is hard to miss, even in the extremely dim lighting of the video.
It’s not new, but the fact that it is still there has Angela’s fans deeply worried.
“You have got to see someone about your lip. It’s getting worse,” urged one commenter.
Another pleaded with her to see a doctor about it because they’d known someone with a similar mark “and it was cancer.”
Others speculated that it was less severe, with one person suggesting: “She probably suffering from some sort of vitamin deficiency.”
A vitamin deficiency is possible, particularly for someone who has been undergoing extreme weight loss.
Of course, given that a large portion of Americans take multivitamins every day, a vitamin deficiency — let alone one that causes such a specific visible mark — feels less likely.
One hopes that this is merely a surgical scar, or something that Angela knows about and has been confirmed to be benign, and not a warning sign of a major health battle to come.
Angela’s fans are not universally concerned, with some clapping back at those expressing their worries, comparing them to Angela’s hard-earned haters.
There is sometimes a fine line between genuine alarm and “concern trolling,” but most of the comments about Angela’s lip seem to be the former.
Whatever we may think of how Angela treats others, including Michael, no one wants her to have a health crisis.
In January of 2021, we reported on the arrest of Douglas “DJ Doug” Wooten, who appeared on 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days as part of Angela Deem’s story.
The venue coordinator is not the only associate of Angela’s to appear on the show before going to trial for serious crimes.
But he was arrested for murder following a deadly home invasion.
Wooten has now entered his plea, receiving a stiff sentence.
Douglas “DJ Doug Wooten” no longer appears on 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days episodes — as in, not even on the old episodes.
His scenes have been scrubbed from Season 3 on Discovery Plus.
That is because he was part of a deadly home invasion on January 4, 2021.
39-year-old Doug took part in the crime, along with 18-year-old Denver Wooten, 39-year-old kegan Bennett, and 32-year-old Verlyttia Ivory.
It is assumed (and in some cases reported) that Denver is Doug’s son and that Verlyttia was his girlfriend at the time, but we don’t really know.
What we do know is that Doug reportedly had a 9 mm pistol, Denver had a.38 caliber revolver, and Kegan was carrying a 410 daliber shotgun.
The home that was invaded belongs to Brittany Martinez.
During the home in vasion, 54-year-old Georgia resident Marcos Ramirez was shot and killed.
Court documents, obtained by Starcasm, do not make it clear how many times Marcos was shot or if Doug was the only shooter.
Doug was charged with three counts of felony murder, along with armed robbery, home invasion, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Despite there being only one murder victim, the death of Marcos during the commission of other felonies means that the felony murder rule applies, thus the multiple charges.
This month, nearly a year and a half after the deadly home invasion, Douglas Wooten pleaded guilty to felony murder.
This May 2 plea deal meant that the prosecutor agreed to not pursue the other charges.
Douglas was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole.
Per Georgia state guidelines, he may become eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
Douglas was arrested only days after the murder, and has been credited with time served since January 7 of 2021.
On January 7 of 2051, he may begin to become eligible for parole.
Eligibility for parole and being granted it are very different things, however.
It appears that Kegan took a similar plea deal.
Meanwhile, Denver and Verlyttia’s cases are still works in progress.
All told, it is a grim story. Brittany had a gun put to her head and likely watched as Marcos was shot and killed. Nothing can fix that.
As we noted, Doug is not the only person from Angela’s storyline to have ended up sentenced to prison for a heinous crime.
Her adult daughter, Scottie Deem, appeared during Angela’s first season … and was later sentenced to prison for sex crimes against children.
Scottie was actually released in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, even while people whose crimes had no victims died behind bars due to the virus.
