Early in April, the world learned that Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon was pregnant with twins.
This was exciting, albeit overwhelming, news for her and her husband, Josh Efird.
Lauryn has been playing things close to the vest — unusually so, for an entire family of reality stars.
Now, it’s reported that Lauryn has given birth via C-section.
The Sun reports that Lauryn and Josh welcomed a baby girl and a baby boy on May 19.
Mama June Shannon’s latest grandchildren were born via C-section at a Georgia hospital.
The facility specializes in high-risk pregnancies.
Both of Lauryn’s babies are healthy, and were able to go home just a few days following their births.
She, too, recovered and went home — though we all know that C-section recoveries are lengthy and often painful.
Pumpkin’s baby daughter reportedly weighted 6 pounds, with her baby boy weighing 5 pounds and 4 ounces — just barely under the average healthy size.
Considering that they are twins, that sounds very healthy for both of them.
Given that they were born nearly two weeks ago, chances are that they are both now substantially heavier than they were at birth.
Gaining several ounces or even a pound a week is not out of the question for healthy, well-fed newborns, but different babies grow at their own pace.
Lauryn and Josh have never formally confirmed that they were expecting.
The news that broke in April came via report.
Neither of them have addressed the pregnancy in public, and neither have most of their families.
However, Mama June did touch on the topic — without confirming it.
June simply stated that her daughter needs another child “like she needs a hole in her head,” a reference to Lauryn and Josh having enough on their plate.
Lauryn is only 22 years old, but already has a 4-year-old, Ella, and a 10-month-old, Bentley.
June did acknowledge that Lauryn is a good parent, describing her kids as “spoiled like hell.”
We should of course keep in mind that June grew up in and spent most of her life in extreme poverty and abusive environments.
Lauryn’s children will never have to rely upon roadkill or ketchup-based spaghetti. In most ways, fame has been a true blessing to this family.
Of course, even if Lauryn and Josh were rich — and they are not — making the jump from two kids to four is a huge deal.
Significantly, they are now dealing with two newborns, a baby, and a preschool-aged child.
That is a lot of children, and one hopes that friends and family are helping out with childcare, housework, and anything else. It’s a lot.
Many families lean on grandparents for childcare when newborns need time and attention.
It’s unclear if Lauryn would trust June enough with something as precious and fragile as her children at the moment.

After weeks of building hype, the new season of Mama June: Road to Redemption premiered on Friday.
While much of the focus was on Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s new baby, June Shannon had her own story to tell.
Deep down, she knew that she needed to get away from her toxic — and worse — relationship with Geno Doak.
After backing out of multiple opportunities, June ended up disappearing for weeks … only resurfacing in another state, in hiding from her ex.
Early on the season premiere, June Shannon called up Lauryn to talk.
She claimed that Geno was no longer sober, and described alarming behavior from him.
June even said that she was afraid of being caught talking to Geno, fearful of verbal abuse from him for simply being on the phone.
It was clear that she was eager to leave him but afraid to, but admitted that the situation was “getting out of control.”
June knew that she needed “help.”
However, she shared that her plan was simply to break up with Geno at the courthouse — a safe environment — while hoping that the judge would sentence Geno to jail time, essentially doing the breakup for her.
Geno’s sentencing ended up being postponed, meaning that June would not get the “easy out” for which she hoped.
Instead, she explained to them that she felt that it was safest for her and for them if she held off on breaking up with Geno.
Her implication was that she was unsure of what Geno would do if she broke up with him. That’s scary. And staying with him is never the answer.
Things got worse, however, when June disappeared off of the face of the planet.
She was totally absent — without even calling — when Lauryn gave birth to Bentley, her first grandson.
Production did not hear from June for three weeks. Then, she reached out.
Producers came to meet up with June at a remote hotel in Alabama.
“There’s a lot that happened behind closed doors that a lot of people don’t know,” June described vaguely.
“My life has been turned inside out …” she lamented. “I’m just tired of lying and hiding and I decided to call y’all,”
June continued her interview inside of the Alabama hotel room, speaking directly with producers on camera.
“Geno has no idea where I’m at and I would prefer for y’all not to tell him that,” she said, and was assured that her location would remain secret.
“He went to sleep, passed out because he was drunk and I packed a bag, I left, I got an Uber,” June shared.
“I tried to do this a few times before and I talked myself out of it,” June admitted.
She explained: “A few nights ago, it was just some extra push.”
June went on: “I should have left him at the last court date, but I didn’t. The drinking got worse, the verbal abuse …”
“I was ruining myself emotionally, mentally, having to worry about my sobriety,” June detailed.
She explained: “The devil was right here saying, ‘You know if you use, you don’t have to use these feelings, if you get cocaine, you don’t have to feel these feelings.”
June admitted that this was the first time that she walked away from “an abusive relationship.”
June admitted that she did not necessarily break up with Geno.
Instead, she warned that the truth “might piss off some people.” She characterized her life as a “train wreck.”
The episode ended with a teaser, with June about to tell viewers something … but what? We’ll find out on Friday.

For more than half a year, Alana Thompson has faced concerned backlash over her current relationship.
The teenage Mama June: Road to Redemption star is a 16-year-old minor who is dating a 20-year-old man.
June lost custody of Alana years ago, but she’s still her mother.
And she is speaking up in support of Alana’s relationship, and seeming to scold those who are wroried.
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson has been dating Dralin Carswell since early last year.
She was fifteen when the relationship began, having turned 16 last August.
Reports said that her family seemed to like Dralin and the relationship … and that apparently includes Mama June.
June Shannon spoke to TooFab about many topics, including Alana’s love life.
“Yes, I’ve met Dralin. They’ve been together for over a year,” June confirmed.
She added: “People need to realize that she’s going to be 17 in August.”
“And,” June continued, “that [Alana’s older sister] Pumpkin and Josh were the same age as they were.”
Well … Lauryn also become pregnant when she was 17. Is that really a great comparison?
But June speculates that some of the backlash has less to do with Dralin’s age and more to do with his race.
“She is getting a lot of hate because she’s in an interracial relationship,” June alleged.
“He is older,” she admitted, “but at the end of the day, Alana’s not that 6-7 year old child y’all fell in love with 11 years ago.”
June reminded everyone: “Alana has grown up, she’s graduating high school next year, guys!”
It’s entirely possible that racism is playing a role in this.
Racism and white supremacy are a rot within so many aspects of our society and culture.
It is not surprising or shocking to hear that this insipid evil impacts how people might view Alana’s relationship.
However … the age gap is significant, no matter what June may think.
A four (or five) year age gap is insignificant when both parties are adults. When one is a minor, it’s entirely different.
Legal in some states, illegal in others, these kinds of relationships are put under a lot of scrutiny, and with good reason.
Why doesn’t June think that it’s a big deal?
For one thing, because as she notes, Lauryn — who seems to be doing just fine these days — was in the same boat as a minor herself.
To June, it just seems normal … even though it’s extremely abnormal and barely legal.
June’s own background is also something to consider, and despite the obvious marks that her upbringing have left, it is too often forgotten.
June was in her thirties when Lauryn gave her a grandchild, but she was already a grandmother before that — through Anna’s children.
Mama June became a “Mama” just a couple of weeks after she turned 15. That is nothing short of a horror story.
Someone who spent most of her fourteenth year of life pregnant is going to have a skewed view of maturity and healthy relationships.
June has also grappled with other traumas, from drug addiction to abusive relationships.
Someone who spent much of her life scavenging roadkill to feed herself and her family has lived a life so different from most of us that she might as well be from another planet.
20-year-olds are in wildly different stages of their lives than a teenage minor.
That doesn’t mean that Dralin is a predator, or that he makes a habit of dating high school students.
But the rest of us are more than entitled to say that it’s weird to see a high schooler date an adult — one who isn’t a former classmate who has now graduated, anyway.
Is Alana in danger? That seems unlikely, given the assessments given by all of her relatives.
But the inherent imbalance of life experience and more is not an unreasonable cause for concern.
A few decades ago, no one would have batted an eye, but in 2022, June’s lack of worry puts her in the minority.
Again and again, June Shannon has defended her boyfriend Justin Stroud.
She says that he’s not after fame or fortune, poses no danger to her sobriety, and claims that he had no idea who she was when they met.
Now, the grandmother is getting NSFW while boasting about her romance with the younger man.
Eight months into things with Justin, she is bragging about laughs, love, and orgasms.
“lol this is one of first and one of his favorite #tiktok,” June captioned a video, which we have included, after she shared it to Instagram.
Tagging Justin, she wrote: “@officialsmallz1 he had no idea what he was getting into.”
“And,” June announced, “it’s been the best 8 months of life honestly.”
June included the tags: “#tiktok #crazy #truelove #mamajune #happinesss #myforever”
In the video itself, June lipsyncs to: “Imagine dating me and then boom! Your life is filled with laughter, orgasms and unconditional love.”
On top of the video, she captioned: “You think you can handle this.”
Fans have watched with varying levels of concern since June and Justin first hooked up.
Between his own addiction history to June’s deeply troubled past to Justin posing beside a notorious hate symbol, there are valid reasons to worry.
And on this season of Mama June: Road to Redemption, we’ll apparently see what the reality of their romance is for ourselves.
“He understands like what I’ve been through,” June shared in a previous interview with In Touch Weekly.
“Like, he knows everything, and I’ve been able to share parts of my life. that I’ve not ever been able to share with anybody,” she continued.
June added: “He knows what’s going on in my past.”
“He knows what’s went on, what’s going on now. And he’s like, ‘OK, I’m just gonna love you through it,'” June reported.
She celebrated that she and Justin can simply “be goofy together.”
June admitted that Justin “does like thicker girls,” but added that he supports her on her weight loss journey.
June has also clapped back hard at worried fans who think that he’s taking advantage of her.
He’s not a “clout-chaser,” she insisted, citing that he allegedly turned down producers when they wanted to essentially offer him reality TV stardom.
Only time will tell how accurate June’s assessment of his ambitions may be, but it sounds believable — not everyone wants to be famous, after all.
Justin allegedly did not even know who June was when they first met.
On the one hand, that is a tough pill to swallow, because June has been a public figure for over a decade.
At the same time, however, we all experience the same world very differently. What seems like “basic knowledge” to one person might not be, especially when it comes to pop culture.
June also insists that Justin is not trying to mooch off of her renewed reality TV success.
While she can enjoy relative financial security and benefits of fame (a far cry from her pre-addiction spiral net worth, however), Justin’s not after that.
June says that she actually moved in with him, not the other way around, when they first shacked up together. Huh.
As for the “orgasms,” well, June may be boasting, but she’s lipsyncing to someone else’s audio.
TikTok is a nightmare app often used so that children can spread misinformation to each other, but sometimes it’s just used for goofy cute posts like June’s.

If they gave out an award for Most Improved Reality Star, June Shannon would be hoisting the trophy for the second year in a row.
There was a time, not all that long ago, when it looked like Mama June wasn’t long for this world.
But these days, Shannon is sober, healthy, and making great strides toward repairing her relationships with her daughters.
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact moment when she turned her life around, but dumping Geno Doak was definitely a major step forward for June.
In a new interview with TooFab, June was asked about her breakup and her recovery, and she proudly reported that she’s been sober for over two years!
“I’m actually good, still good with [her sobriety]. 29 months straight sober. If you watch the first episode, it’s a tearjerker,” she told the outlet.
June went on to reveal that the new season of her WeTV reality show will focus on the end of her relationship with Doak.
She says there were several times when she came close to ending the relationship but decided to remain, and she admits that viewers might judge her harshly in those moments.
“It’s easier for an outsider looking in to say, ‘You can leave, you can leave, you can leave,’ when it isn’t really honestly the case,” June told TooFab.
“You get so, so sucked into it and so like, ‘It’s amazing,’ because you try to make excuses for things that are happening.”
Shannon says one of her reasons for staying with Geno for so long was fear of what he might do to her family.
“He knew where they lived at, he knew how to get a hold of them, he knew where I would go. He knew how close me and the girls was, he knew I would run to them and I did not want to put them in jeopardy either,” she recalled.
June added that she regrets dropping assault charges against Geno, and she told the DA as much following one of her arrests.
“Look, I should have never dismissed the domestic violence charges the day we got locked up, March 13, 2019, along with the drug charges. I should have never dismissed those charges but I was scared,” she said.
“I went in front of the Grand Jury [in 2019] like, ‘Everything’s amazing.’ It wasn’t. I went down and told the DA, ‘Look, I should have never stopped those domestic violence charges.'”
The season premiere of Mama June: Road to Redemption documents the exact moment that June left Geno, and not surprisingly, it wasn’t easy.
It seems that June fled in the middle of the night while Geno was passed out.
After she gained her independence, Shannon disappeared for three weeks before finally returning home and explaining to the production crew that she had dumped Doak.
“I don’t even like talking about it now because it puts me in a headspace I’m not in anymore, a year ago, my production company kind of knew it was going to a head, especially after I went into recovery,” she recalled in her interview with TooFab.
“But I was like, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine.’ Even in my addiction, I was ready to walk away [from him] then but didn’t know how to. That’s the crazy part about it.”
June says her addiction and her relationship with Geno went hand-in-hand, “it would have been easier for me to escape with the drugs like I had in the past.”
As for Doak, he recently revealed that after June broke up with him, he narrowly survived a suicide attempt.
In an in-depth interview, he explained to TMZ that he’s in a much better place these days.
Hopefully, these two will continue to keep their distance from one another.

“We just started chit-chatting, and I started stalking him,” June recalled of how things began with Justin Stroud.
“Everybody always says he’s a clout chaser,” she acknowledged. “F–k, I was chasing him!”
According to June, this popular image of a man getting close to her in order to live off her relative success is a total fantasy.
“People don’t realize. When me and Justin first met, I moved in with him, to his home,” she claimed.
“We both had our separate homes,” June detailed, “but I moved in with him.”
“And no, he’s definitely not a clout chaser,” June emphasized.
“He does his own stuff. I do my own stuff,” she said.
“But,” June affirmed, “we do a lot of stuff together.”
June has been a reality television personality for more than a decade, with her daughter being a household name — her nickname, anyway.
However, she claims that Justin had no idea that he was talking to a reality star when they first met.
“He didn’t know who I was to begin with, honestly,” June alleged. “He didn’t know.”
June shared that, once Justin was up to speed, he rejected the offer of reality fame.
“And he did tell [the producers], ‘No, I don’t want to be part of it. I don’t want to do it,'” she described.
“He had a full-time job. He owns businesses,” June explained. “He has his own life.”
“So it has been kind of an adjustment to him,” June admitted, “but he’s like, ‘F–k it.’”
She continued: “He got throwed into it, so he’s like, ‘Let’s ride.’”
June also called out the concern over whether two people in addiction recovery, who are living sober lifestyles, can safely date each other.
“You just got to be supportive,” June explained.
“There is days, because just because some people are going to come clean does not mean,” she began.
June continued: “It doesn’t become peaches, flowers, and rainbows.”
“A lot of people say, ‘Well, two in recovery cannot be together,'” June acknowledged.
She commented: “Well, that’s a lie.”
“We’re going to prove that,” June declared.
“We’ve been through hell and back,” June pointed out. “We’ve known each other for a year.”
She argued: “Most relationships don’t go through the obstacles that we have had to go through in the last year.”
June added: “they don’t even go through it in the lifetime of their relationship.”
“So,” June reasoned, “I think honestly, that’s made us stronger.”
She expressed how grateful she feels to have found “somebody who understands” her and her struggles.
The rest of us will simply have to keep our fingers crossed that nothing goes horribly wrong.
