Carole Baskin Fumes in First Interview: Shut UP About My Missing Husband!
Tiger King star Carole Baskin has already clapped back at murder allegations leveled at her by the now-infamous Joe Exotic.
Now, she is putting the whole documentary on blast in her first interview since it aired, saying that millions of viewers missed the point.
Carole Baskin spoke to the Tampa Bay Times to vent her frustrations over what the documentary and viewers got all wrong.
“I just feel so angry that people have totally missed the point,” she expresses in her first post-doc interview.
“And the point is,” Carole explains, “these cubs are being abused and exploited.”
She is heartbroken at the ongoing abouse “and the public is enabling that.”
Carole’s (current, living) husband, Howard Baskin, feels betrayed by the documentary and by the millions who watched it and just laughed.
“There’s almost no way to describe the intensity of the feeling of betrayal,” Howard laments.
“They saw those cubs being dragged away from their mother,” he points out.
“Where are those memes?” he asks. “Where are those comments?”
Carole reveals that she has received death threats since the documentary premiered on March 20.
The couple has seen drones flying over their home and an increasing number of spectators stopping by in person to catch a glimpse of them.
Carole describes being inundated with prank calls — to the point where she can’t tell when people need real help or are just being malicious.
At this point, she can’t help anyone, even if they need it.
“I’ve had to turn my phone off,” Carole laments.
“I can’t tell the real ones from the fake ones,” she says of calls requesting “help” for “animals.”
Carole explains: “because they’re always out of state numbers anyway.”
The result, she fears, is that real animals will continue to be endangered while the public pokes fun at her and bandies memes.
“”I really hope what will come of this is that law enforcement will take this seriously,” Carole expresses.
“We’ve all been screaming at the top of our lungs for 20 years that this abuse was happening,” she notes.
Carole laments: “And no one was listening.”
“Now the abuse is so apparent,” she points out, “I hope it will encourage them to take action on it.”
Carole fervently hopes that this will “inspire Congress to do what they can to end cub petting and private possession of big cats.”
That would be a blessing, as private possession of big cats was a nightmare long before Tiger King.
As many on social media have remarked, it is bizarre that anyone could watch the documentary and come away seeing Carole as “the villain.”
Whether or not she slathered her ex with sardine oil and fed him to tigers is irrelevant. Even if she did, there are worse people here.
Joe Exotic didn’t just go to prison for murder-for hire. He was also convicted of a slew of animal cruelty charges.
Reportedly, he was filmed doing heinous things to animals by a previous reality TV crew … before all of their footage was “mysteriously” burned.
Whether it was the documentary’s tone or Joe’s eccentricities, a lot of the public appears to have glossed over the horrors of the animal abuse.
Meme about Carole all that you like, but if your takeaway from the doc was all about Carole’s missing husband, you kind of missed the point.
