The Bachelorette: Leading Ladies Ranked By Relationship Length!

If The Bachelorette spoilers are any indication, Clare Crawley will be handing out the roses this summer on the long-running show.

Her age, 38, has been the topic of many headlines, but 38 is far from old. It’s just mature. As in Clare is ready to find a life partner.

Yet if look at the venerable franchise’s track record, however, the Californian’s odds of long-term success are mixed at best.

Why do we say that?

Isn’t it obvious? This is a dating competition throwing two people together under a pretense that is literally impossible to sustain.

Can they transition into real life, establish a new normal and make it work? They can, but often times, they fall short of that goal.

Which stars made it work?

Which flamed out fast?

We have ranked the 16 stars of The Bachelorette based on who was most successful at finding love during her stint as queen.

See how they stack up from worst to first, and see if C-squared can find what some (if not all) of her predecessors have found …

1. Hannah Brown

Hannah brown picture
Our most recent Bachelorette, Hannah Brown a.k.a. Hannah Beast a.k.a. Alabama Hannah a.k.a. Beast Mode, comes in first, or last, depending on your point of view. Hannah got engaged to Jed Wyatt on The Bachelorette, but that was over by the time we got to the After the Final Rose special, at which point she asked out runner-up Tyler Cameron. (That short-lived romance fizzled also.) Hopefully Clare can clear this very low bar.

2. Jen Schefft

Jen schefft
Bachelorette Jen Schefft broke up with winner Jerry Ferris on the After the Rose special because she just “wasn’t feeling it.” Not even making it to the day after the finale? As we saw with Hannah Brown, Jen set a low bar set for everyone else at least.

3. Clare Crawley

Clare Crawley’s journey hasn’t even started filming yet, but even if The Bachelorette’s 2020 season ends in shambles, you can’t flame out harder than Jen or Hannah B., so she’s already ahead two spots in these rankings!

4. Emily Maynard

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm broke up just a few months after his proposal in 2012. He was never the right guy anyway. Should’ve picked Sean Lowe. Not that she or Sean (who is happily married to Catherine Giudici, who he met on The Bachelor) are overthinking it right now. Sean and Catherine are about as happy as a couple can be, while Emily has since married and had a bunch of kids with Tyler Johnson.

5. Andi Dorfman

Andi Dorfman found love with Josh Murray on The Bachelorette, a move that she seemed destined to make from the start despite a lot of red flags. The heart wants what it wants, we suppose … including breakups. Unfortunately, their engagement ended after only six months or so.

6. DeAnna Pappas

DeAnna Pappas and Jesse Csincsak broke up seven months after their finale aired. Silver linings: Her journey introduced us to Jason Mesnick, one of the more popular contestants in franchise history, and DeAnna went on to marry Stephen Stagliano, a high school teacher and the twin brother of former Bachelorette contestant Mike Stagliano!

Clare Crawley: Who Is the New Bachelorette?

The custom has been in place for so long that The Bachelorette spoilers have practically taken for granted at this point:

The newest Bachelorette is typically taken from the crop of women who appeared on that year’s season of The Bachelor.

So the fact that ABC broke with tradition to cast Clare Crawley as the next Bachelorette is a testament to a lot of things.

Namely how unpopular this season’s cast was, or at least that its stars were SO young and unprepared for marriage.

Enter Clare, a 38-year-old hairdresser from California who was engaged once before – and has been on this franchise.

Of course, it’s been a while since Crawley was on our radar, so some denizens of Bachelor Nation may not know her.

Fear not, because we have everything you need to know about the woman who will soon be handing out the roses …

1. Meet Your New Bachelorette

Clare Crawley will soon be announced as the next Bachelorette. The choice is unexpected, for the reasons we outlined above, but at the same time, not totally shocking – and we’re guessing she’ll be a hit among fans.

2. So Who is She?

Clare is a 38-year-old hairdresser from Sacramento, California. And while she did not appear on Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, she’s no stranger to the franchise.

3. A Seasoned Veteran

Longtime card carrying members of Bachelor Nation will know that Clare was a contestant on Juan Pablo’s season of The Bachelor, and that she also appeared on Bachelor In Paradise and the short-lived Bachelor Winter Games. (Yes, that was seriously a thing.)

4. Not the Juan

Obviously, Clare and Juan Pablo were not a love match; Juan Pablo chose Nikki Ferrell in the season finale over Clare, who won raves from fans for how she handled that situation. But she has been engaged before, and she has Chris Harrison to that ill-fated romance.

5. International Intrigue

During her time on Bachelor Winter Games, Clare wound up in a love triangle with two contestants from internaional versions of The Bachelor.

6. Peace Treaty

The Bachelorette 2020: Revealed! Random!!

We interrupt our usual stream of The Bachelor spoilers to bring readers a rather impressing Bachelorette spoiler.

And that Bachelorette spoiler is this:

WE KNOW WHO IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT BACHELORETTE!

This topic of conversation and consternation has been floating a hot topic around the Internet for days now.

With Peter Weber’s controversial season of The Bachelor winding down, fans are understandably curious which woman will step in to carry the torch for the ABC franchise going forward.

As always, producers have no shortage of polarizing options.

Could it be Hannah Brown (above, top), returning for a historic second run?

Or year’s most villainous, notorious hopeful, Victoria Fuller (above)?

Or Kelsey Weier (below), who advanced to the hometown episode of The Bachelor this year but was then sent packing?

Kelsey Weier, Peter Weber

According to the most reliable Bachelor and Bachelorette source out there, the answer to these questions are no, no and no.

And the answer to who will actually be the Bachelorette in 2020?

It’s none other than Clare Crawley!!!!

In other words … huh?!

Tweeted the one and only Reality Steve on Saturday morning:

(BACHELORETTE SPOILER): Monday morning on GMA, Clare Crawley will be named the “Bachelorette.”

As a refresher, she finsished 2nd on Juan Pablo’s season, was on BIP 1 & 2, and was recently on Winter Games.

Refer back to my thoughts Thursday as to why I could see this decision.

clare reveal

As outlined by Steve above, Crawley nearly became the fiancee of Juan Pablo during his run as The Bachelor.

She was then a popular contestant on Bachelor in Paradise and even got engaged to a fellow reality star in 2017.

He describes Clare as “passionate, emotional” and one who “falls hard.”

In other words, perfect for The Bachelorette.

And yet: assuming Clare is the selection, this will buck a long-running tradition for the franchise in many ways.

With some notable exceptions, an anchor from the most reason season of The Bachelor(ette) gets the nod.

Despite this seemingly being a reason to doubt Reality Steve, let’s be serious here: The guy is rarely wrong.

When you want Bachelor spoilers or Bachelorette spoilers, this is the person to turn to, it’s as simple as that.

Heck, he even alleges on Twitter to know the ages of 14 of the men who will be pursuing Clare this year (28, 28, 25, 23, 28, 30, 40, 28, 31, 33, 26, 26, 28, and 28) and says filming  will begin March 13.

She will likely meet five of her suitors on the March 10 Bachelor finale.

Prior to this reveal, it had been rumored that Beast Mode Hannah Brown would run it back as The Bachelorette…

… until she and ABC clashed over her salary.

The aforementioned Kelsey Weier, Tia Booth and Tayshia Adams were also under serious consideration.

Ultimately, it was Crawley who got the nod.

As previously cited, she was the runner-up on Juan Pablo’s Bachelor season, then actually got engaged to Benoit Beauséjour-Savard during The Bachelor Winter Games: World Tells All special.

That couple split about two years ago.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship,” Clare and Benoit (above) said at the time.

“We understand A lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show.”

“We wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera.”

“We think the world of each other,” she added, “and we were both hoping we could make this work.”

Alas, it was not to be. Crawley concluded:

“I’m sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it’s our truth.”

“Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance.”

“Please respect our privacy as well, as with the end of any relationship, it is never easy. Thank you for your understanding and love while we have shared our vulnerability with the world.”

So there you (almost definitely) have it.

Clare Crawley – who is 38 years old, or ancient by ABC standards – will be the next Bachelorette here in 2020.

She is at the same time well known to Bachelor Nation, but someone who most haven’t talked about in awhile.

The only question that now remains, therefore, is this: Will you be watching her journey along with us?
