Duggar Intimacy Guide: Make Yourself Available to HIS Needs. Always. Joyfully. [UPDATED]

First, there was Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar popping out a small army of young fundamentalists.

Then there’s the recent backlash over Jinger’s wardrobe … and Jill Duggar’s brazenly kinky sex life.

It’s clear that, despite an aversion to front-hugging or wearing pants, the family is no strangers to sex.

The distinction is that for the Duggars, sexual activity happens only within the confines of marriage.

This is fairly well established. Beyond that, they have all sorts of advice – both good and appalling.

For couples hoping to keep their marriages strong and enduring, here’s what they have in mind.

[UPDATE: It seems not all Duggars agree on the best way to spice up a marriage — and this may be causing some problems within the family!]

Take a look:

1. Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar Share a Drink

Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar enjoyed a drink together in what some would call a shocking public display of affection.

2. Attend to HIS Needs

Michelle thinks that it’s a wife’s duty to attend to her husband’s needs — from food to his wardrobe to the marital bed. And she thinks that keeping up with those needs is the secret to a healthy marriage.

3. But only one of those services is exclusive

“Anyone can iron Jim Bob’s shirt, anybody can make lunch for him,” Michelle has said. “He can get his lunch somewhere else.”

4. Her advice continues

“But you are the only one who can meet that special need that he has in his life for intimacy,” Michelle’s advice goes. “You’re it. You’re the only one.” Interesting — we’re not sure if that worked out so well for Anna.

5. Be “Joyfully Available” to Bone

Michelle advises women — well, wives: “And so be available, and not just available, but be joyfully available for him.”

6. Service with a smile

“Smile,” Michelle instructs. “And be willing to say, ‘Yes, sweetie I am here for you,’ no matter what.”

Jill Duggar DEFIES Jim Bob, Celebrates "Demonic" Halloween!

We know that the OG Duggars think that Halloween is for hell-bound sinners and not for members of their fundamentalist cult.

But not all of the married Duggar girls do.

Rebellion is a strong word, but not all abide by Jim Bob’s rules. Case in point: Jill and Derick Dillard made the rounds on Halloween.

Some fans blasted them as hypocrites. Others just noted that they seemed to be cheapskates snagging every holiday freebie that they could get.

“We had a blast. We enjoyed dressing up this evening,” Jill Duggar Dillard announced on Instagram.

She continued: “And going out for some family fall fun and Halloween freebies & deals!”

She shared photos of her with Derick and their boys, on costume, on their adventures.

Jill also provided fans and followers with an itenerary.

Jill began: “1st stop was @sonicdrivein for some 50 cent corn dogs.”

“2nd stop was to @chipotle for some $4 #booritos,” she continued, adding: “(And no extra charge for the guac tonight!!)”

Jill added: “3rd stop was to @krispykreme for some free donuts.”

She detailed: “(+the hot light was on so they asked us if we wanted the free glazed ones in addition to the free donut of our choice!!)”

It’s a bit of a surprise that Jill and Derick would participate in a holiday so often derided by people who share his belief system.

Halloween has religious, pre-Christian roots, but is largely secular in how it is celebrated by the general public.

The Duggars believe that even fictional portrayals of things like magic and sorcery are part of a “demonic realm.”

So some fans were astonished that Jill would “risk” her children’s spiritual well being by participating in Halloween.

“How is them going to Krispy [Kreme] in costumes celebrating the devil?” one fan asked after a few more diehard Duggar fans commented.

“They dressed up to get freebies and deals,” points out another.

That same comment continues: “It’s no different than dressing up as a cow for the free chicken sandwich at Chic-fil-a each year!”

“Stop judging everything these people do and let them live their lives,” the comment concludes.

Others took aim at precisely that, however — at Jill and Derick using their kids to get free stuff.

One follower admonished them: “Take the poor kids out trick or treating for some real fun, not just so you can get ‘freebies,'”

“So why is it ok to dress up for Halloween to get freebies but not ok to trick or treat??” another asked.

Another follower demanded: “Just buy the donuts geeez!”

“Your boys look adorable!” praises another fan. “This can actually be a very fun holiday. Happy halloween Dillards!”

“Don’t shame a family for trying something new,” a very thought-provoking comment begins.

The comment continues: “You have to remember that she grew up without Halloween, she might be slowly dipping her toes in these new experiences.”

“People go at their own pace if you don’t like how she does things and how she is Learning things then why are you even following her?” the fan writes.

“To get angry at another family? To judge and think you know what her children need?” the fan continues.

“You cannot get mad at two adults enjoying a night out with their children,” the commenter insists.

The comment continues: “And if freebies come with it then so be it. I bet alot of other family’s were doing the same thing here was.”

“But why are you not judging them?” the fan concludes.

Other fans weren’t angry or defensive … just deeply curious.

“How does celebrating Halloween align with your religious views?” one fan asks.

The fan clarifies: “Not meaning such in a way to generate conflict… genuinely interested in hearing the rationales.”

(As a bit of a religion nerd, I’m curious to hear what they would say for myself.)

Jill Duggar Injured While Shopping With Kids, Video Reveals

Clearly, Jill Duggar Dillard has had better weeks.

First, she shared a photo of a baby casket, totally out of the blue, and got some pretty intense backlash from some upset fans.

Now, she was just trying to run some simple errands when she got injured. And yes, there’s video. Take a look below:

“So, this happened today,” Jill Duggar’s video, shared to her Instagram Stories, begins.

“Love Sam’s food, but … ” she writes in the captions.

“Ouch, ya’ll,” Jill declares, explaining: “I rammed my shin into that bar on the cart.”

If you’re not familiar with what she means, don’t worry, both a snap below and the video itself illustrate what she means.

“WHY does it stick out so far?” she laments.

The captions on screen continue along with the video.

“Was so trying to act like I wasn’t limping while I wanted to cry,” Jill confesses.

“I think it hurts worse the older you get,” she assesses.

Jill continues: “I think my mom used to say that, lol.”

We trust that she’ll understand if we’re not amused by anything that Michelle Duggar might say about children experiencing pain.

“And,” she adds in a fainter note. “I need to shave lol.”

“This video doesn’t do it justice,” Jill admits.

“Hurts so bad,” she expresses.

Jill describes her injury: “And has a raised bump and turned blue/green right away.”

Just because it’s not visible on camera doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hurt.

Speaking to the camera during the video, Jill admits that she hasn’t been to Sam’s in a while.

She finds the carts “super tall,” which is pretty standard for a short person to say. But the bar underneath is what hit her shins.

Gotta be honest, I’ve had this happen to me before, if not recently, and it is every bit as agonizing as Jill suggests.

When a metal bar strikes your shin, it is almost directly hitting your bone.

So what is the solution to this? Most shoppers simply have to adapt and learn that it is there as a hazard.

But it sounds like Jill is hoping that maybe Sam’s will change their carts.

One solution would be to raise the bar just a few inches, which would vastly lower the odds of shin-strikes like the one that she experienced.

By raising that bar, the person’s legs would have to be that much closer to the cart in order to hit it. Injuries would go way down.

It would also decrease the potential volume of the cart in terms of carrying groceries. A few inches can go a long way.

Jill may of course face criticism for shopping at a chain notorious for union-busting and for allegedly being anti-worker.

(Confession: though I’ve never been in a Sam’s Club, I do order their toilet paper in bulk because it’s the best! I apologize for my own weakness)

But hopefully critics will considering Jill’s injury to be, like, karma or at least a mitigating factor.

Remember that not all communities have shopping options, and some entire towns rely upon Wal-Mart and Sam’s for most of their shopping.
