Jed Duggar: Why is He Trying to Distract Fans from the Josh Duggar Trial?

While some have shown up to court, the majority of the Duggar family has seemingly ignored Josh Duggar’s trial.

Many are wisely maintaining radio silence on social media, since they lack the courage or moral clarity to condemn him.

Oddly, Jed Duggar has chosen a different path this week.

He seems to think that if he throws some shiny throwback pics out into the world, followers will just forget that his brother is a monster.

On Monday, December 6, Jed Duggar took to Instagram to share a look back as his engagement.

This dates back to Valentine’s day, making these photos less than a year old.

With that in mind, this seems like an almost random time to offer the throwbacks. Almost.

Jedidiah Duggar iG romantic winter proposal throwback

“Looking back on our romantic winter proposal on Valentine’s Day!” Jed captioned.

He recalled the conditions: “It was -13°F and snowing! She was SO surprised!!”

These days, of course, Jed and Katey are both married and expecting. Life moves as a breakneck pace in the Duggar world.

But this is not the one-year anniversary of Jed’s proposal.

Out of context, this seems like a random week to share such a throwback.

In context, it appears to be a transparent ploy to give fans something to talk about other than his disgraced brother.

“Damage control anyone?” reads one comment.

“Your brother is in court for possession of CSAM,” the commenter pointed out.

“And,” the commenter observed, “all you can do is talk about your engagement as if nothing is happening?”

“Read the room Jed!!!!!” suggested another.

“You’re supporting your sick in the head brother,” the commenter noted, “and a jury is having to listen to the sick things he was watching.”

That commenter continued: “And you’re over here reminiscing about your proposal, good lord.”

Certainly, this seems like the only explanation that makes sense.

Jed might be thinking fondly of his engagement for whatever reason, and that part is normal.

But posting it, this week of all weeks? That feels deliberate, and people are right to be annoyed.

Now, some might argue that this is totally unfair to Jed.

After all, he didn’t choose to be cursed to be born into the Duggar family or to have Josh as a sibling.

Should siblings be held accountable or in any way blamed for another’s crimes?

Usually, no, especially when we’re talking about a younger sibling who is not at all implicated in his brother’s crimes, proven or alleged.

However, Jed is not exactly staying out of this and keeping his head down.

Instead, he has been seen hanging out with his disgraced brother.

On Tuesday, December 7, Jed was spotted at Josh’s ongoing trial.

According to eyewitness reports, Jed walked into the courtroom.

Josh approached him, and the two were described as talking and then laughing.

That is enough to turn anyone’s stomach.

Jed cannot help who his blood relatives are, but he can surely control who he chooses to associate with as an adult.

Going somewhere to hang out and exchange laughs with a disgusting predator during his criminal trial … that sounds like a choice.

Maybe Jed was forced to. Jim Bob does infamously use his wealth to control his adult children.

But was he forced to publicly laugh with his brother?

It seems more likely that this is simply who Jed has chosen to be.

Anna Duggar Excoriated Over Support For Josh: Put Your Kids Before Your Cult!

As Josh Duggar’s trial continues, the ever-growing mountain of downright sick evidence presented in court has everyone on edge.

His own cousin, Amy Duggar, recently implied that Josh should be “put down” like a rabid dog for being a danger to children.

Many on social media have echoed this feeling and praised Amy for speaking out when so many of her relatives have not.

Others are going further still.

Many critics are calling out Josh’s long-suffering wife, Anna, for her inexcusable ongoing support of the accused sex offender.

The current trial stands to determine Josh guilt in the matter of downloading and possessing photos and video of children being sexually abused.

The prosecution has shared graphic details of the media traced to Josh’s computer. Anna has been right there in his corner.

It appears that Josh’s defense team is trying to argue that Josh was framed by some other perv, however improbable that may sound.

Legally speaking, Josh is trying to instill reasonable doubt, and is considered “innocent” of these particular crimes until proven guilty.

Like it or not, that’s how our legal system works.

But while Josh has not admitted any guilt in this case, the reviled fallen reality star’s past crimes are not in question.

In 2015, the world learned that Josh was a sexual predator, having molested multiple young girls – including four of his own sisters.

Even in this trial, the jury heard testimony about how Josh confessed to his crimes to family and to certain family friends.

No one seems to dispute this, though the Duggars and their cult seem to think that everyone should forgive and forget.

There are dangers with ignoring sexual predation and letting someone move on as if nothing had happened.

Josh escaped prison or any other kind of penalty because his father and cult concealed his crimes for years.

Instead of protecting the victims, they shielded a monster from consequences … leading to where we are today.

Even as Anna has left the courtroom during testimony multiple times, she has not stopped standing by Josh.

She has arrived with him, holding hands with a man whom most people would not touch with a ten-foot pole.

As far as anyone in the public can tell and from what has been written in numerous consistent reports, Anna’s support for Josh has not wavered.

The world is furious.

Most of the anger is at Josh, at Jim Bob, at Michelle. Yet others are directing anger at Anna for essentially endorsing Josh as a human being, to the detriment of her own seven children.

“Anna can go f–k herself,” a social media user recently commented.

Another observed: “She disassociated with reality and failed her children.”

That same individual continued:

“Any human with a shred of integrity would have done more to protect those kids.”

“That’s why I’m just as pissed at her parents as I am with her,” another expressed.

“Their grandkids are around a confessed pedophile,” the commenter noted.

“And they don’t lift a finger to see if they’re even ok.”

Anna’s family was targeted with frustration not only because of this, but because Anna is a product of their cult environment.

“Her brainwashing and upbringing is an EXPLANATION, not an EXCUSE,” one person very correctly wrote.

Another admonished: “She should protect her children, full stop.”

It is true. First and foremost, a parent’s job is to protect their children.

Anna has been seen openly supporting her disgusting husband, showing up to court and holding his hand despite all that she has heard.

She has also been reportedly defending him, believing that he is being persecuted, to the point where she has been in conflict with his family.

Why is Anna standing by Josh, both in public and in private?

The first explanation is depressingly simple:

Anna, from her point of view, has to.

She was raised in a toxic, twisted cult that tells her that she is essentially the property of her husband and a vessel to bear his children.

Anna also believes that marriage vows are an irrevocable oath, not to her husband, but to God to remain with him no matter what.

We know how the cult treats families where a father is imprisoned.

Wives are encouraged to not only visit them, but to bring their children to see their father.

If Josh is, as the world hopes, convicted and sentenced to decades behind bars, Anna is unlikely to leave him or admit his guilt.

The other explanation is that Anna seems to be strongly in denial.

Allegations of political conspiracies and spiritual warfare have been reported coming out of her mouth for more than half of a year.

If she believes that her husband was framed by President Joe Biden or by the literal actual devil, no evidence or verdict will sway her.

Yes, as social media commentators noted, she was raised in a cult.

Her whole life was planned – and doomed – before she was born.

That is an explanation for her behavior and for her extreme beliefs.

But a cultist upbringing is not an excuse. Anna is an adult, and she must put her children first. That means leaving Josh and the cult behind.

Josh Duggar Defense: Some Other Perv Used the Computer to FRAME Josh!

Josh Duggar’s trial has involved descriptions of the sick and twisted evidence in the case.

But the case doesn’t hinge upon what was accessed so much as it does upon proving that Josh accessed it.

The prosecution has presented a lot of detailed forensic evidence regarding their physical and electronic search.

Josh’s high-priced defense team is working around the clock to cast doubt on every shred of it. Will it work on the jury?

In court on Friday, Justin Gelfand left no stone unturned while attempting to dismantle the testimony of James Fottrell.

Fottrell is one of the leading computer forensic analysts for the Department of Justice.

Gelfand is a former federal prosecutor, and was relentless in reiterating and dissecting every piece of evidence in the case.

A major highlight of Gelfand’s defense strategy on Friday was to focus on what Fottrell might have done while investigating Josh, but did not.

Experts often draw extremely informed conclusions while technically not being able to rule out alternatives.

Time and time again, Gelfand admonished Fottrell “I don’t want you to guess” in court.

An obsessive fixation upon detail is pretty key to any side of a court case … but it’s also a way to overwhelm jurors with information and potential doubts.

Fottrell did not yield during four hours of testimony on Friday, standing by the evidence and the case.

It is expected that Gelfand will bring out the defense’s own forensic analyst to further muddy the waters.

Among things that Gelfand brought up was a USB drive that was plugged into Josh’s computer on the day when the Linux partition was created.

Why? Because the drive contained two word documents and a slideshow presentation. Fottrell didn’t see it as relevant.

Fottrell also had to clarify that Covenant Eyes, the spyware program used by Anna to monitor Josh’s activity, cannot simply be turned off by clicking the icon.

The router in the office was neither seized nor examined, and Fottrell had to clarify that it’s not a likely treasure trove of exculpatory evidence.

When Gelfand pushed the idea of a pattern of remote access to the office computer, Fottrell did not agree.

He acknowledged that it was possible, but not supported by any evidence.

There are hints that this may be an idea that the defense pushes after the prosecution rests.

This may be why Fottrell had a chance to elaborate on why the idea of a sinister remote access job to frame Josh.

For one thing, remote access to a computer (as anyone who has gotten help from tech support knows) means that everything is visible on the monitor.

Every mouse movement, every keystroke, everything displayed on the screen — from launching a peer-to-peer program to using a tor browser to switching to the Linux partition.

The Linux operating system has its own login screen and password, which an alleged remote operator would need to know and type in.

At any point, if Josh had been in the office but innocently working, he would not have been able to help noticing what his own computer was doing.

Fottrell acknowledged that some of the evidence was “forensically challenging,” because it appeared that efforts had been made to purge the child sexual abuse material.

This is why no full, intact video files were recovered, despite “lots of good evidence” that they had been accessed.

However, there was a cache of auto-created thumbnails from when the files were created, and Fottrell was able to identify this gruesome content and confirm tht it existed.

“Some offenders understand it’s dangerous to possess the material of this nature so they download it, view it and then delete it,” Fottrell explained.

He referred to this as a “Netflix effect,” with risk-averse sexual predators no longer amassing large media libraries of abused children.

Fottrell noted that they were able to find the full-sized originals of one set of disturbing images despite efforts to delete it.

There is a reason that juries are asked to convict unless they find that there is “reasonable doubt,” rather than any doubt whatsoever.

Josh, like any other defendant, could conjure up unlikely hypotheticals to explain this or almost anything else — disgruntled employees, vindictive frame jobs, political conspiracies.

It is up to the jury to see through deliberate obfuscation and the defense’s various strategies and determine what explanations are reasonable and likely.
