Amy Roloff Wishes Matt Had Taken "Higher Road" in Roloff Rift

Little People, Big World fans don’t have to be told that the Roloff family feud just plain sucks.

It sucks for Matt, who seems to have taken on the villain role. It sucks for his kids, especially Zach and his wife Tori. The fallout from it sucks for the grandkids.

Amy knows all of those involved about as well as any person conceivably could, and is publicly weighing in.

She wishes that her ex-husband were handling this better … but she knows that it’s out of her hands.

Amy Roloff weighs in on Roloff rift

Amy Roloff had an extensive conversation with Us Weekly about the farm feud.

“I don’t know a lot of the details of the negotiation that went on between Zach and Matt,” she freely admitted.

All that she knows for sure is that she’s not thrilled with how the results are playing out.

“Matt is still the father, still ‘the adult,'” Amy pointed out.

“I don’t care how old your kids are,” she reasoned, “sometimes there are things they may need to learn.”

“But,” Amy continued, “you know as an adult, as a father, you may have to take the higher road.”

Amy expressed that it is “sad that it’s come to this.”

She does recognize that her ex-husband can be “grinding.”

Infamously, their conflicting personal styles and personalities were a major contributor to their divorce, perhaps even more so than Caryn.

“Parts of me are not exactly surprised,” Amy admitted.

She explained that this is “because I’ve dealt with Matt over the years.”

“And,” Amy characterized, “he can be tough.”

Like the rest of the family and all of their viewers, she is aware that the children have spent their lives being told that the farm will remain part of the family legacy.

Now, a massive chunk of the farm is being sold.

Ultimately, she hopes that something good can rise from the ashes of this bitter conflict.

“Change happens,” Amy acknowledged.

“It’s not always happy,” she understated.

“But eventually,” Amy expressed, “maybe this will be a step where we can all move forward and see how we can come back together.”

That is easier said than done, and Amy knows that.

Everyone involved would need to not only talk things out, but forgive each other, if they’re going to move forward.

That’s not just Matt and Zach. It especially includes Jeremy and Audrey, who have coveted Roloff Farms for many years.

Amy understands — perhaps better than Matt does — why there are so many hurt feelings that will not easily go away.

“We’ve heard over time this was going to be part of the family,” she acknowledged.

Amy recalled hearing countless times that “this was going to be the legacy.”

“And now to see the end result with a ‘for sale’ sign,” Amy went on.

That must have been crushing for all of them.

This Roloff rift will not go away on its own, but even if fences end up being mended, Matt’s choice has forever shaped the destiny of the family.

Amy Duggar Doesn’t Blame Cousins for Judging Her: They Were Brainwashed!

For most people, a stance against wearing pants simply means wanting to feel comfortable in their own homes. Not so for the Duggars.

Amy Rachelle King, better known as Amy Duggar, was labeled the “wild cousin” because she had a modicum of personal freedom. Namely, she wore pants.

While Jim Bob imposed many restrictions upon Amy, her slightly more normal way of life led to judgment from her cousins when they were younger.

It’s not their fault, Amy says. They were raised to think that everything normal is abnormal.

Amy Duggar spoke to The Sun about the cultural right that she felt growing up around her cousins.

The extreme fundamentalists of her family considered her to be living an “immodest style” of life, from her clothing to her habits.

Deanna raised her with less strict rules, so “I was in jeans and bright colored shirts climing trees,” Amy recalled.

“I was a wild tomboy,” Amy described. “I loved nature and being outside.”

She detailed: “I loved music, I could date. I would do all the things normal kids and teenagers would do.”

Amy admitted: “I was extremely known as the black sheep. They would never say black sheep, but I was like the wild cousin.”

Amy acknowledged that her clothing, hobbies, and interests simply made her a “normal, regular person.”

But in the eyes of her cousins, she was somehow a “bad, wild girl.”

Amy expressed: “I was like what the heck? Why am I wild in their eyes?”

This “wild” label ended up meaning that there were special rules about how she could interact with her own family.

“I couldn’t spend the night, they couldn’t be in my car,” she lamented.

Amy added: “There were several things that I was like, ‘What did I do? Why am I so wrong?’

Of course, when cousin Josh Duggar’s molestation of his sisters and a babysitter was revealed in 2015, things started to click.

Some of these rules were intended to shame her, but some may have been “invisible” safety rules to keep her from being alone with a predator.

“Now I see it as more of a protective measure,” Amy suggested.

Amy did admit that she “absolutely” felt like her cousins were judging her simply for being herself.

She takes it with a grain of salt however.

Given the toxic atmosphere in which Jim Bob and Michelle raised them, Amy explained that her cousins “just didn’t know better.”

“I’m a little different than they were,” Amy explained. “But it didn’t make me wrong.”

The issue was simply that her cousins didn’t have any real experiences with a normal, free person.

“I wasn’t wearing what they were wearing,” Amy described. “I wasn’t talking the way they were talking.”

“I could watch TV,” Amy noted.

She added: “I could go to the movies and mall, and they honestly couldn’t.”

“It set me apart without really trying to,” Amy went on. “They were sheltered growing up.”

Of course, part of the point of the Duggar lifestyle is to create a group of siblings so insulated that they find anything outside of the cult to be strange and foreign.

Normally, people who encounter different people and lifestyles get to understand them by simply talking to them, working with them, and learning.

For fundamentalist cultists who are not given the opportunity to do this, the only response is to close ranks and cast judgments.

Deanna also spoke about Amy’s upbringing.

“I am so proud of Amy,” she gushed about her daughter. “She’s such a strong woman.”

Deanna praised: “She has become an amazing woman to take a stand like this.”

“I gave Amy freedom to choose what she wanted to do like dances,” Deanna noted.

“I was raised more conservative so it was nice to see Amy have that freedom,” she commented.

“My mother was conservative in her thinking,” Deanna recalled. “I was not allowed to go to dances, but I let Amy go to dances.”

Deanna very correctly emphasized: “It’s important to give your kids the freedom to make choices.”

Amy also commented on how cousins like Jana, Jill, and Jinger are now wearing jeans, short dresses, and participating in society in other ways.

“I’m very proud of them. They’re all very sweet,” Amy praised. “They’re growing and evolving. We’re all doing that. It’s exciting to see.”

Amy Duggar Was FORBIDDEN from Doing Dancing With The Stars by Jim Bob Duggar: Why?

Despite Amy Duggar’s compassion for her relatives, she is on the outs with much of the Duggar clan.

Why? Because she lives a relatively normal life. Because she has her own ideas. Because she speaks out.

There is still a lot that Amy cannot say about Jim Bob, due to an infamous NDA that restricts her speech.

But a new report has revealed that Amy was at one point invited to Dancing with the Stars … but Jim Bob interfered.

The Sun reports that Amy Duggar could have had a standalone reality dance competition gig.

“She was offered to go on Dancing with the Stars,” an insider shared.

“But,” the source continued, “Jim Bob would not let her do it.”

According to the report, this was not the only incident when Jim Bob gig-blocked his niece.

“She’s had many opportunities for shows,” the insider added.

The fact that Amy has not appeared on these shows seems to indicate that Jim Bob was still, perhaps even to this day, is holding her back.

There is also a chance that Amy could take an appearance now if it were offered, but has not been invited due to Josh Duggar’s scandal.

Seven years ago, the world learned that he is a sexual predator.

Now, he has been convicted and sentenced for CSAM, but even Amy’s strong Josh-critical stance might not be enough to remove the Duggar stigma for most audiences.

Why would Jim Bob prevent Amy from taking an offer like that?

On the surface, you would think that it’s perfect for his sinister agenda to promote the Duggar brand and a sanitized version of their extreme lifestyle.

But it’s that very lifestyle that would make him interfere with Amy dancing, with or without stars, in the first place.

It may sound like a joke to most of us, but the Duggar cult does not believe in dancing, or in listening to “worldly music.”

The plot of Footloose was not conjured up out of nowhere. Long before the Duggar cult arose, this was actually more common in small town America.

(Anyone else have a grandparent tell you about sneaking out to go dancing as a teen in the 1940s?)

So not only would doing the show have meant Amy doing the devil’s leg-movements, but she would not have been dancing alone.

Dancing is done with a dance partner on these shows, and while the relationship is professional, it violates the extreme rules of the Duggar cult’s fundamentalist beliefs.

A lot of dancing involves front-hugging, bare arms, bare legs, and moving one’s hips. Anathema to the way that women are required to present themselves in the Duggar household.

Jim Bob may have had another, more pragmatic concern: financial independence.

For years, he has been known to use his wealth (including the money pocketed from years of reality television, with checks paid to him and not to his family) to control his adult children.

Amy was already “too” normal for the Duggar brand as it is. Giving her financial independence from television appearances could put her in a position to lift her cousins out of his grasp. He can’t have that.
