Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Issue Terse Statement on Josh and Anna’s Baby

A few weeks ago, Anna Duggar welcomed her seventh child while disgraced husband Josh remains on home confinement.

She waited until this week to share the news with her fans and followers.

For most of this year, Anna has been feuding behind the scenes with her in-laws over Josh’s arrest and (imminent) trial.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar might not be on good terms with Anna, but they had something to say about their 22nd grandchild.

Josh Duggar’s parents issued a terse statement to Us Weekly this week.

“We are always delighted to welcome another grandchild,” Jim Bob and Michelle expressed on Tuesday, November 16.

The Duggar couple added: “They are each a beautiful treasure from the Lord.”

That sounds like the fundamentalist grandparent equivalent of writing “have a great summer!” in a yearbook.

After twenty-two grandchild announcements, you run out of creative comments to make when a new one is born.

And when you’re at odds with the newborn’s mother and the father may be weeks away from a prison conviction, what else is there to say?

Madyson Lily Duggar was born on October 23.

Anna waited more than three weeks to announce her seventh child’s birth.

Josh and Anna are already parents to 12-year-old Mackenzie, 10-year-old Michael, 8-year-old Marcus, 6-year-old Meredith, 4-year-old Mason, and 23-month-old Maryella.

Madyson was born on October 23 at 2:39 AM, weighing 7 pounds and 9 ounces.

The newest addition to the extended Duggar brood measured 20 inches in length at birth.

Anna shared the news and those details on her Instagram Story.

To say that things have been tense between Anna and her husband’s family over the past seven months is an understatement.

Josh was arrested this spring on charges of receiving and possessing photos and videos depicting the sexual abuse of extremely young girls.

Authorities say that he downloaded these files using peer-to-peer software, which he accessed via a work computer.

Anna, however, reportedly believes that Josh is innocent.

She has been seen standing by his side and visiting him during his home confinement, seemingly remaining a devoted wife despite his situation.

And according to various reports, Anna’s beliefs extend beyond the (frankly absurd) notion that Josh is a good person and that this is all some sort of misunderstanding.

Some reports say that Anna blames Jim Bob for Josh’s arrest.

Either she thinks that he’s not supportive enough of his son or that he should have done more to protect Josh — it’s hard to say for sure.

While many have noted how the cult environment in which Josh was raised was the perfect hunting ground for a budding sexual predator, that’s clearly not Anna’s gripe.

According to some reports, Anna believes that Josh is being persecuted or even framed.

While roughly 70% percent of the United States population is Christian in some form, some — like the Duggars — insist that they are “persecuted” for their beliefs.

For fundamentalist cults who see themselves as the only “true” Christians and the rest of the world as their spiritual enemy, this belief is even more important.

Anna has at times been said to blame President Joe Biden, who was not yet in office when Homeland Security raided Josh’s workplace, for this.

In all likelihood, it seems unlikely that the President has any idea who Josh is. His closest ties to reality television is that his nephew married an ex-Housewife.

But if you look at what unhinged conspiracy theorists like to say, then arresting Josh is just the first step in a “Communist takeover” that the long-time centrist plans to perpetrate.

When Josh was first exposed in 2015, first as a sexual predator who molested little girls and then as a porn-addicted cheater, his family stuck by him.

His own victims were forced to speak in his defense.

Some of his siblings even framed the revelation as a spiritual attack — by the literal devil — against their family.

With that kind of cult brainwashing, it’s easy to see why Anna finds it easier to believe that Josh is innocent and to see anyone who disagrees as her enemy.

The alternative would mean that she has had seven children with a depraved sexual predator who is a danger to children — which the world knows Josh to be anyway.

Besides, in a fringe community that does not believe in divorce, it’s not clear what Anna will do if Josh spends the next two decades behind bars where he belongs.

Jim Bob Duggar Asks for Campaign Cash, Voices No Actual Policies or Ideas

Don’t call it a comeback.

No, seriously, please do not allow Jim Bob Duggar’s run for Senate be a success story.

He’s hoping that everyone will ignore that the son whose past crimes he covered up is headed to trial for the unspeakable.

Jim Bob is also clearly hoping for donations … without listing any actual policies or concrete platforms.

When a millionaire is asking for donations — not for a cause, but for his own political glorification — people are often uneasy.

With big, national races, people understand — tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars can go into those.

But is Arkansas District 7 so hotly contested that a millionaire and his fundamentalist church full of fellow cultists needs to crowdsource campaign funds?

Jim Bob's Billboard

Jim Bob apparently thinks so.

Or perhaps he is so focused on continuing to use his wealth to control his children that he can’t be bothered to foot the bill.

Either way, his campaign site is an all-too-real thing that exists, and he has a lot to say.

Jim Bob Duggar campaign statement

“I’m running for State Senate because these are unprecedented times in our nation,” Jim Bob declares.

He whines: “Out-of-control bureaucrats have put politics over common-sense policy.”

Jim Bob says that they’ve done this “with government mandates that force people to choose between earning a paycheck and violating their personal rights and beliefs.”

In other words, he thinks that people have a fundamental right to spread whatever plagues upon their neighbors that they wish to.

“The foundational principles that have made our nation great are under threat like never before,” Jim Bob claims.

“Now more than ever, we need a bold voice that is pro-family, pro-business, pro-gun and pro-life,” he writes.

“It’s time for conservatives to demand courageous leadership that puts Arkansas families, jobs, and our constitutional liberties first,” Jim Bob declares.

Prematurely, he added: “I look forward to being your voice in the Arkansas State Senate.”

Well, that’s all very gross.

Years ago, internet trolls who wanted to silence and shame good, decent people came up with a term.

That term is “virtue signaling,” as if people would only do and say good things for attention.

Something that seems much realer is what I like to call malice signaling — loudly letting the world know how bad you are.

That is precisely what Jim Bob is doing here.

Just look at the term “pro family.” What does it mean? Who is “anti-family” exactly?

The term doesn’t really mean anything … and yet it always serves to signal that the speaker has malevolent intentions.

As for the rest — Jim Bob is against vaccine mandates, he’s a gun nut, and he thinks that anyone who gets pregnant should be forced to give birth.

Is any of that surprising? No.

All of that is very consistent with the Jim Bob that the world has come to know and detest over the years.

But … is he listing any actual policies or actual platforms?

Nowhere that we, or any others looking into his loathsome candidacy, can find.

What laws or policies is he proposing to proliferate firearms or criminalize reproductive healthcare or whatever sinister things “pro-family” means?

Nothing.

It’s not just that Jim Bob’s ideas are unpopular and well outside of mainstream views, let alone what’s actually right and wrong.

It’s also that he’s not proposing any “solutions” to these non-problems. He just wants cash.

Jim Bob Duggar campaign donation form

Like other con men before him, Jim Bob is probably going to get that cash, too.

In fact, he could be looking at a win-win scenario.

Even if Jim Bob (hopefully) loses his political run, we all know that there are ways to funnel political donations into one’s own businesses and turn a profit.

But perhaps the most unnerving part of all of this isn’t Jim Bob’s sinister views.

As we noted, they are not surprising, and unfortunately, the political arena has no shortage of malevolence, bigotry, greed, or dishonesty.

The most twisted part might be that Jim Bob is trying to make this comeback as Josh’s trial looms.

There will be a hearing on November 18. The trial begins in earnest on November 30.

Josh is on trial for receiving and possessing photos and video of the sexual abuse of children.

Little girls’ lives were ruined by adult men, and authorities traced one of the downloads of that content to Josh’s computer.

Jim Bob’s candidacy at such an awkward time could mean that he believes Josh’s claims.

He would have to believe two absurd things: that Josh is innocent, and that the justice system works flawlessly.

If Jim Bob believed both of those things, he would fully expect Josh to be acquitted and publicly vindicated.

More realistically, Jim Bob could be planning to either ignore Josh’s trial or use it to his advantage.

The first would mean saying that Josh is a “grown man” and he can’t control what his son does.

The second could mean claiming that his family is being attacked by “leftists” or “antifa” or “the devil.”

Jim Bob is not a good person or a good father. He has not been and would not be a good politician.

But with his family’s reality career once again sabotaged by yet another Josh scandal, he’s obviously looking for a new way to make the world worse.

And clearly, lining his own pockets seems to be a bigger priority than convincing people that he has even one actual good idea.

Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar Kept Josh’s Dirty Secrets Buried For Years Before Arrest

This month, Josh Duggar passed on a plea deal that could have spared him from going to trial.

It is hoped that when his jury trial begins in late November, he will swiftly be found guilty.

But all of this could have been prevented if the right people had made better choices.

Instead, at every turn, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar lied, covered, and worked to sweep what Josh really is under the rug.

Josh is accused of using his work computer to download photos and video of the sexual abuse of little girls.

The downloads, using peer-to-peer software, allegedly took place in the spring of 2019.

It was half a year later when Homeland Security investigators raided the car lot where Josh works, collecting statements and gathering evidence.

Interestingly, Jim Bob and MIchelle publicly denied that an investigation was even taking place.

Their denials were so effective that, with no official word or swift arrest to follow, many assumed that this was no big deal.

After all, controversial public figures like the Duggars can “make the news” even if an employee or neighbor is being investigated.

Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh, Anna, and the rest likely wished that things had remained as unclear as they were following the raid.

(That said, it’s unclear how much the rest of the Duggar family really knew — Jim Bob is not exactly known for honesty)

However, a year and a half later, in April of 2021, Josh was arrested and formally charged with receiving and possessing this disgusting material.

That was when the world learned what Josh was accused of doing.

However, given the nature of the investigation, what evidence was reviewed, and what questions were asked … other people must have known before that.

Those other people would surely have involved Jim Bob.

There are no indications that Jim Bob adequately prepared the family for Josh’s arrest.

It’s possible that Jim Bob was foolish enough to believe Josh’s insistence that he has done nothing wrong.

It seems more likely, however, that Jim Bob was just interested in keeping the problem quiet as much as he could for as long as he could.

After all, the Duggars aren’t just a family embedded in a toxic, abusive cult.

They are also a business and a brand. They promote a watered down version of their extreme lifestyle and they make money doing it.

There’s nothing quite like a confessed child-molester (whose crimes you covered up) being arrested for something like this to tank your struggling brand.

Most people — you know, good, decent people — would be more worried about a sexual predator than about business.

We get it, business is important because it keeps your family fed and housed.

But what could be more important than the physical safety of actual children?

Jim Bob and Michelle, like the rest of the IBLP cult, is much more concerned with outward appearances.

Right and wrong take a back seat to their extreme beliefs and the “importance” of making their lifestyle seem palatable for the cameras.

As for the welfare of children … we’re talking about a group that hides sexual predators and practices blanket training. They’re not against abuse.

Earlier this year, an inside source more or less confirmed as much.

“Jim Bob always wants to sweep things under the rug,” the insider told People at the time.

The source added: “He’s never going to talk about the scandal because it’s bad for business.”

One of the clearest indicators that Jim Bob truly did not make sure that the family knew what was coming was how normal everyone acted.

Josh wasn’t showing up regularly on social media, but he was still attending family events — the ones with kids.

Just two months before his arrest, he was at Justin and Claire’s wedding.

When Josh was arrested, the Duggars were clearly sent into a panic.

Most of them straight-up disappeared from social media, going on hiatuses without explanation.

Others gave neutral to tone deaf statements (“condemning pornography” is largely unrelated to Josh’s arrest, folks) before going silent.

Now, however, a bunch of them are posting like it’s business as usual.

They’ll post about their kids, their religious beliefs, what they ate for lunch, and other generic reality TV star Instagram shenanigans.

Some of them are even on TikTok, of all places, trying to spread their brand to a demographic that’s mostly never even seen them on TV.

It’s strange to see them act like nothing’s happening — but it’s worse than that.

All of this is a reminder of how the family, including Josh’s victims, were forced to act after his first foray into sexual predation.

This is how they operate. If Josh is convicted, acquitted, or ultimately not prosecuted after too many deadlocked juries, they’ll do it again.
